As promised I am posting a range report. Let me know if I missed something as this is my first report ;)

Hubby surprised me with a Sig P229 Elite Scorpion 9mm for Christmas and so with a little coercion, off to our Local Shoot Straight (WPB) we went! I think it went pretty darn well and despite only shooting handguns for the past couple of months, I think I did my Sig pretty decent justice!

Cleaned and lubed prior to heading to the range. I was pleasantly shocked over how easy it was to take this gun apart, clean and put her back together. Compared to my hubby's Sig P938, this was a dream! Of course I spent lots of time looking, poking at and discovering the awesomeness that is this gun! Some light dry fire and then off to the range we went.

I used the White box Federal 115gr 9mm target ammunition. Racked like a dream! was Shooting 5 rounds at a time I started at 5 yards and was within the inner bullseye For the most part. Sweet! However, both of my original sets of 5, I noticed the Slide was not locking back after the last round like it should, otherwise zero problems. RSO & hubby both verified my form looked good and so I went for set 3 and it locked back as it should. No further problems. Haven't been able to recreate th problem so current consensus by everyone involved is that the gun just needed some breaking in. Shot around 75 rounds with no further problems. Love shooting this gun!

Pics below show how the session went :) the 2nd photo (back of target/white) was shot at 5 yards and i outlined the inner bullseye zone. I've been shooting at 5-7 yards for beginning shooting and SD distances on a larger silhouette target. For the, 1st photo below I slapped on a new target on top of the silhouette, moved to 7 yards and tore out hole You see.

Then I went to 15 yards (new distance for me) and started seriously playing with the SRT trigger, which I have to admit I had no idea how to really use but was instructed basically what to do when my instructor friend came around to check on me. I wandered a bit outside my intended target area and had a couple of unintentional double taps working with the trigger. So Not horrible but I could feel that I was a bit tired and not really focusing toward the end, But frankly, I didn't want to stop shooting haha! More to work on next time, right? Can't wait til Friday when my Instructor friend helps me really work the SRT trigger and I get to see how accurate this gun is, in his more experienced hands and at further distances.

This is one fun and smooth gun. I love shooting my LCR and our P938 but I have to admit, they feel like work compared to the P229 Elite. I know i have much plus much more to learn, vut boyoboy am I having fun and looking forward to taking some classes and growing in knowledge and ability! :thumsup so, Did I miss anything for a range report?

Remember the 2nd photo (white), was actually the first at 5 yards and the darker target was the latter at 7 and then 15 yards.

this is why women belong in the kitchen...us guys dont mind being not as good there....:bowdown

nice shooting and excellent report...with pics no less...youre lying...youve done this before...:grin
Thanks! So not bad? hot damn! I get a little shy sometimes when I'm not sure how it's going but you can't be shy when you're grinning like a loon and walk around like you just got a gold star in grade school haha!

There is no way you have been shooting handguns for only a couple of months! That is some good shooting!

On the failure to lock back, if you are right handed, your thumb may have rested or brushed the slide release. It happens sometimes with Sigs if you use a thumbs forward grip.

Enjoy!
That was my thought too when I read around about the problem . Maybe by focusing on form more, I fixed my own error....

Can't wait to get this gun out of the indoor range and into something more interesting training wise :grin

:grin I promise, just started :) Only in my dreams have I been shooting for longer, but with all the reading, watching videos, lurking here, and dreaming about it, maybe thats why.... sucking in all the knowledge beforehand and They say what you envision yourself doing, you do. sure helped me with my Dressage training lol. Thinking about it, we took our Class for the CWL with Khal right after hubby's birthday in Nov, applied for CWL Nov 20th. Almost 2 months of shooting although I shot a little when I was much younger. (Hubby says, no I didn't , that what I did was hold a gun and suffer recoil from adults who should of known better)

As to more reports and pics and formal training? You betcha! Planning my first class in Feb and saving so hubby and I can do it together.
