you see two guys exit a vehicle 2-3 cars in front of you with AK47's/AR15's. They start firing on vehicles, and you're in the line of fire and may take incoming immediately.

What are you going to do?
Only one smart thing to do:
You call 911 and that will get the police there instantly to protect you.

If it’s one of the days I have my backpack gun with me, I grab that and crawl to the back of the car and open the lift gate just enough to slip out.

Then I wait to see their movement and try to slip away from them. If confronted, I have 30 rounds of 5.56 and my normal EDC plus a spare mag.

If I don’t have the backpack gun, I do the same thing, just with the pistol and try harder to not be seen.

Yes, traffic is at a stand still on all 3 lanes, you're blocked in all on sides and can't move the vehicle in any direction to escape.
One possibility for me personally is to open drivers door, leave it open lock the others and hop in the back seat and lay down. It’s a truck, dark tint makes it very difficult to see inside. Could make them think I fled and move on looking for other victims. Do this while having my edc drawn and ready if spotted.
Or if I have time actually escape while they are focused on others in front of me
Last resort is engage them with what I have. You didn’t mention them having body armor so CoM could work.

Unless I have one or two guys with me and we're all wearing armor and armed with rifles, I'm probably screwed if they decide to target me. But if I'm in my Bronco, I can assure you, unless I'm surrounded by semi trucks, I'm not blocked in
One consideration I had thinking about this is alughting from my vehicle while it us in gear...allowing it to roll into the vehicles in front of it, wheels turned, and drawing attention to it as opposed to me...the ensuing panic of the other drivers may be my ticket out...

Great plan!
If I did that; mine would put itself immediately in park and set the emergency brake on it’s own. Hell, it may do it as soon as I open the door…. 🤬

And Heaven help you if you ever activate the “rear parking brake assist” on the menu!

Very contemporary scenario you brought up. I’ve been saying for years that one of the next mass shootings may involve that very scenario. Jammed up in traffic like that you are very vulnerable. I don’t have much to add that hasn’t been covered giving special recognition to bnb and his suggestion.

One thing I’ve done is to buy maybe half a dozen of those level 3-A backpacks. I believe Caleb has one also. I can toss a couple of those on the backseat and they look pretty innocuous. They do function as a backpack of course but you can easily adjust them where you can hang them over your chest to give you some degree of protection as you exit, stage left. Of course, they are not the absolute solution for rifle rounds but better than nothing and helpful in other situations.

Several years ago, there was a shooting on the tunrpike in Broward that was similar to Brownie's scenario. A cop put it to a end. Seemed like the guy wanted to do suicide by cop.

I use the Vertx Gamut 2.0 (GAMUT 2.0 BACKPACK) that has a slot for ballistic panels. I haven't gotten those yet, but I was getting ready to get a Level III for it.

Exit vehicle using driver side door as soft cover. Get to rear of vehicle. Reassess situation if they start shooting at me or I get to rear of vehicle without drawing fire.

I'll draw after I've taken off the seat belt, ducked as best I can. I can open and push the door open with my left hand.

What are you going to do?
Open the car door wide enough to serve up onesies around the windshield post. If they can hit me, I can hit them. Seconds as applicable.

Nice hypothetical situation. Let me give you another one. Let's say you are strapped up to your neck in a vat of vomit. Someone is going to hit you in the face with a bag of dog crap. Do you take the dog crap in the face or duck into the vomit? Ridiculous scenario.

The scenario I played out here actually happened in Florida, reads through the posts, you'll find it if you're able to read. As to your 3rd post here, your hypothetical IS a ridiculous scenario. Mine, not so much.

Off on the wrong foot here me thinks, but others will be along to spank you for your BS post.

I am guessing you have a limited intellectual capacity if you have to resort to insults and asking if I can read. When the bullets are coming in your direction, everything changes. I can tell you that I have been in actual live shooter situations and while I do not doubt the one described happened, there is not nearly enough information to know what you would do. Further, unless you have been there you have no idea what you would REALLY do once the situation happens. When your brain starts to rapidly releases cortisol, adrenaline (aka epinephrine), and other hormones like serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine your square range, paper target, training goes out the window. Frankly, it is pretty useless anyway, other than to hone your fundamental skills of grip, stance and aim. When your heart begins to race, blood vessels constrict, and blood pressure skyrockets, in turn rapidly delivering oxygen and sugar to your muscles, you will find that your brain goes into overdrive and you will likely experience tunnel vision. These are all involuntary responses and while they can be controlled to some extent with experience, force on force training and/or combat experience, they never go away. If you have never tried force on force training, give it a try and let me know how your "plan" works out. If you have done force on force, then you will surely know that there is no way to know how any individual will react to a situation they are not prepared for. The one thing we all should know as shooters is that no situation ever goes as planned. As for me getting off on the wrong foot all I can say is lighten up and have a laugh every once in a while. The world is not out to get you.

Having said all that, I will say I did not see the entire thread was called Defensive Scenarios so I guess that is what this is all about. I should have looked more carefully. I still stand by my reply to you with respect to the fact you have no idea how you would react, but you certainly have every right to talk theory. Kind of like IDPA which is a lot of fun to shoot/play. I say play because it is a game. I am an IDPA Master and I can tell you that real life stuff where bullets can go in both directions quickly make you understand that IDPA and scenario based drills are not an accurate reflection of how you will react when the Fit hits the Shan. Fun yes, but a predictor of your reaction and/or preparation? Definitely not! So in the end I apologize for not looking closely enough at the thread, but you have to admit the scenario I put out there is pretty funny.

Your apparent problem is you don't have a clue who some of the players here are, nor their backgrounds, actual experiences. If you did, you wouldn't have posted in this thread to begin with, let alone came off as a douche' bag.
