Got my license in the mail today. Upon reviewing the info found out that my first name was misspelled, typo on the address, and my race was wrong (why they think that race is a critical info on the license is beyond me). I emailed Ms. Sweet tonight and will see what she says tomorrow. They are issuing these things without even reviewing if the info is correct.

I read from other threads that this shouldn't be a problem as LEO can check against your SSN. What do you guys think?

I'm the kind that would call and talk to someone who can make it right. When you are talking about a gun license it is in your best interest that all of the info be correct.

Tell the supervisor on the phone that you have already waited "____" days to get your license only to have three things wrong with it. Tell them that you should NOT be put at the back of the pile again since the mistakes are not yours. Emphasize that you know they have been backlogged but you have patiently been waiting for a license only to find that there are THREE mistakes. Then ask her to please give you a date on when you should expect your corrected license to be in the mail. Get this person's name and any other kind of identification number if they use that. In the meantime, carry the other license and a copy of your application showing that you submitted the correct info.

There really is no excuse for that many typos on something as serious as a gun license.

+1 This isn't something that I would handle with an email. I would be on the phone politely demanding it get fixed.

FWIW..... In the gummint world, things that are WRITTEN either in email or on paper carry a TON more weight than the spoken word. I have found it most effective to call, have the conversation, then follow up with a letter or email recapping the conversation

I agree that having it on paper/email helps CYA. But I think a phone call would get things moving a lot quicker. An email or letter could set in someones in box. When you cal the person should be able to reissue it on the spot.

Heck, if something is really important then do all three.

Just a thought but an email from DOA stating you can use the license and it is being corrected would make a good "carry document" to go with your messed up license.

Wasn't long ago that I received a license and learned I was a black, female security guard.

That may not be a bad thing. Now you qualify as a minority - it could be good for business. :rolf

Ms. Sweet got back with me via email that morning (she's pretty much on the ball) saying they did correct the errors and issued another license. Thanks for all your help my friends!
