I sleep with two Sig Saur P220 .45 semi-autos, a Remington 870 tactical pump shotgun, a Rock River AR 15, about a half a dozen knives, several tactical flashlights, earplugs, redundant alarm systems, and a dog near by.

I sleep well and I sleep light. Do Not Tread On Me!

Just curious how many people are prepared at night when your guard is down. Are you ready? Are you prepared? Which weapons are at your bedside?

My wife can be pretty nasty if you wake her up in the middle of the night - that's for sure... Does that count?

Seriously, I keep my Sig 1911 in the nightstand (but I'm more afraid of the missus, tbh).

LOL Women are tough when they want to be and you don't want to get on their wrong side. Soft and pretty but watch out.

typically just our carry guns and a flashlight in reach on both sides of the bed and the 12ga a few steps away. Anyone sneaking in would have to trip over the 165lb dog to get to us so we'd likely hear the grunt.

12ga w/very short barrel. .45 10+1 for me tucked between the adjustable bed mattresses and the wife keeps her S&W wheel .38 w.Laser in a bed side holster. Oh and yes the alarm is turned on too, he sharpens his teeth at night.

i sleep next to a deadly weapon every night...if they have the nads to piss her off they are in for a rude awakening...that and they have to get through a 9 pound yorkie with a big mouth to make it to my side of the bed...then i have some wurprizes for them...

i sleep sound and nothing but my wife or daughters fussing will wake me up...they could kick the door in and my wife would have to let me know whats going on....

Good call on the cell phone (no pun intended). I have it by the bed but forgot to list it. A very important item!
Yup,,,, Bad Guys will cut phone lines so alarm never reaches Central Station or Police, and you would have no way to call out. Cell phone is a must. In fact the cell phone house alarm backup is a great idea, and though it is nothiing new it is still not cheap. Fear sells.

As others have stated, the most lethal weapon I sleep with sleeps right next to me, and if they wish to wake her, then it sucks to be them. Not only does she have a home defense shotgun with 00 buck right next to the bed, she also has her Kimber within arms reach, a mag light, a large knife, two great danes, and me (notice I'm at the bottom of the list). So intruders beware, I don't even wake my wife up in the middle of the night unless I have to.

My G26 is on my nightstand with an extra mag in the drawer. I have been looking for a bedside holster for my XDM (it holds 20) and I have 4 extra mags. Plus we have a security system on the house and of course my cell phone. My room is upstairs so when the alarm goes off, by the time he, she or them gets upstairs ill be ready :grin:rofl

you guys are playing a dangerous game having your weapons so close to you while you are asleep.
I keep my guns on the other side of the bedroom while asleep, if an intrusion happens the alarm will alert me and those few steps I have to take will let my head catch up with my body,
my bedroom is upstairs so a BG wouldn't be right on top of me, and I would have a moment or 2 to get armed, of course YMMV

Well lets see:

Bedroom:
5 handguns
1 HD shotgun
1 .223 Carbine
1 machete
2 dogs
2 cell phones
and the meanest woman that has ever lived

House:
numerous machetes
numerous knives
numerous other "improvised" weapons
alarm system w/cell backup and exterior blue strobe
well known to the local P.D. and S.O.
exterior lighting on motion control
strategically placed interior lighting activated from bedside

Like Paul "MeanDoggy" Turner's house, you may get into mine and cause a problem or two, but it ain't going to be a walk in the park. You'd better hope that you don't get past me and try to breach Mrs. Hodawg's POD.

Beers y'all,
Ken

At the risk of a smack on the head from the bear cave:

Other than that, several pistols within arms reach in the nightstand and a hell of a shot next to me.

Why? Will BG see them and shoot us? Will we over-react to snoring? Guns have been on or near nightstands forever, I don't know of anyone who thought their SD gun was too close to them. Now, not being obnoxious, maybe the way you personally sleep it might be a bad idea to have a gun so close, but I have no worries(in fact I have more securities) about "arm's reach" SD guns at night. Grandfather did it, Father did it, I do it, and I will teach my children to do it. Just sleep with your ears on.
