This is why I have been buying ammo and not reloading for about 18 months.

Now I have all that fired brass to reload. :)

I got a lot of reloading stuff before this mess. But I didn't get everything I needed yet for all the calibers. And reloading components are also in short supply! So yes, this sucks!
This! Thankfully, I can get by on what I have, but powder for what I do load will become an issue relatively soon.

SG Ammo has always been good to me, but even they get cleaned out and backed up. Even in 2013, what little they would get in from time to time was quickly sucked up, and was more expensive than usual.
Now, Cheaper than Dirt is another story. They are notorious for jacking up prices in panics. That's the way the free market works, so more power to them I guess, but I haven't bought anything at all from them since 2009.

Their reputation is worse than that, and deservedly so. They didn't just jack up prices. They CANCELED existing orders (pending shipping) and invited those customers to RE-order their items at the new prices. I'll never buy from them again.

Yeah. Raising prices in response to increased demand, or reduced supply, is just the free market working. It is how it SHOULD be. But cancelling someone's order so you can increase the price is complete BS. You had an agreement. You made a deal. Sometimes it turns out to be completely impossible to go through with a deal, but breaking one just because you see a chance to make more money is the sort of thing a low-life swindler does.

Not cool.

My understanding of "Cheaper than Dirt" is that they don't have any infrastructure of their own.
They drop ship everything, and thus, have little to no control of anything.
They try to "look big" by saying this items ships from "Warehouse 11", and this other item ships from "Warehouse 4" etc...
I guess that's to justify the shipping.

But in reality, it's just drop-shipping from two different vendors.

I won't buy from CTD.

I have passed on things from them during non-panic/normal pricing times when they were the cheapest. I refuse to do business with those idiots.

Quick question:
What's a reasonable asking price to sell 500 - 1000 rounds of 9mm FMJ range ammo to a friend/co-worker?
I want to be fair, and can afford the extra space in my safe, frankly.

I was thinking going rate, less 10%.
Or option-B, just have him replace them at some time in the future, provided we don't forget the arrangement.

Thoughts?

If it matters: It's (at least) 350 rounds of Blazer Brass, 50 Winchester White box, and 2 boxes (50 each) of S&B.
All 115 grain, I think.

(I want to get rid of all the oddball boxes I have - and after this sale I'll only have the nice compact boxes of the SB9A,

If the good friend is racer, that might be enough. 🤣

Seriously though, prices are up online and I see brass-cased ammo for ~$0.30/round in bulk right now. So ~$14-$15 per box of 50 seems fair, or just let your conscience be your guide for a little less than that for a "friend/co-worker" that you have a personal-professional friendship to think about. YMMV

Thanks,
I really hadn't been keeping up with 9mm, but a lot of the places I checked online to get a feel for current prices were out of stock on practically everything except the more expensive hollow-point personal defense rounds. ...Guess it's getting desperate out there, lately?

Although, when I was at the Gun World range last week, they were selling 9mm ammo like it was no big deal.
Of course, I don't know how much they were asking -- and I do know they require you to use their ammo if you rent one of their guns (which I've never done.)
I guess gun store owners stocked up before the riots?

I would trade with Racer for some "Porterhouse-flavored" dental floss. :)

I gave my friend next door 100 WWB and 50 124g JHP 9mm so he could teach his wife to shoot her new gun. I told him to just replace it when things get back to normal, I told him it would be a while before that happens.

Sorry, no experience with them.
Ordered and shipped to brother in law by usps box within a week. Once fired 380 brass 1k for 69$ with free shipping. Waiting to here from him with quality report. They are out of stock on many items , but they have some. Midway was more expensive and not in stock. Could place an order and wait. Not sure about shipping cost at Midway.
The 380 brass was for a Swift boat River vet who has trouble with larger cal.

Midway has a good deal on .300 it’s Hornady American Whitetail 180gr. for like $1.90 a round. I wonder if they are gonna come out with an American Blacktail Matters ..... maybe a limited edition run ..... made with a out-on-bond, coup deville tail projectile ..... in once fired up brass .... with pcp primers .... they come in a economy box of fo’, or a dime box. Cash only, No returns accepted.
