It has become second nature to carry all the time. Most of the time I even forget I'm carrying until the trip to the ladies room. :)

I wish it was second nature to carry ID - I don't carry a purse and twice I have left the house with no ID while carrying. The first time we were at our friend's store and I locked it in the glove box until we got home. The second time I went to work and didn't realize until I got home and saw my ID in front of my computer.

Anyone know what would happen if something went down & I did not have my ID on me?

All depends on what "went down".......

Failure to display your CWFL and valid ID upon demand by a LEO, may result in a $25 administrative fine.

At a mininum, the LEO would ask you your name, address, and SSN. Look you up to verify the information and either 1) believe you are who you say you are or 2) take you in for fingerprinting.

According to Florida Statute 790.06 ( License to carry concealed weapon or firearm ).

http://www.flsenate.gov/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=&URL=Ch0790/SEC06.HTM&Title=->2008->Ch0790->Section%2006#0790.06

790.06 License to carry concealed weapon or firearm.--

1(1) The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is authorized to issue licenses to carry concealed weapons or concealed firearms to persons qualified as provided in this section. Each such license must bear a color photograph of the licensee. For the purposes of this section, concealed weapons or concealed firearms are defined as a handgun, electronic weapon or device, tear gas gun, knife, or billie, but the term does not include a machine gun as defined in s. 790.001(9). Such licenses shall be valid throughout the state for a period of 7 years from the date of issuance. Any person in compliance with the terms of such license may carry a concealed weapon or concealed firearm notwithstanding the provisions of s. 790.01. The licensee must carry the license, together with valid identification, at all times in which the licensee is in actual possession of a concealed weapon or firearm and must display both the license and proper identification upon demand by a law enforcement officer. Violations of the provisions of this subsection shall constitute a noncriminal violation with a penalty of $25, payable to the clerk of the court.
If you are discovered by a LEO of having a Concelead Firearm, and you do not have you Florida Concealed Weapon License on you, be prepared to be searched and/or cuffed and treated as a violator until the License can be confirmed.

Is this conduct correct on the LEO's part? He has no idea whether you are a law abiding citizen who has forgotten her license, or a felon who is about to commit a crime.

Best advise ... Be sure to carry it on you at all times. :D

Get one of those business card cases they sell out Office Depot, etc. and stick your licenses (DL & CWFL) in it, then in your front pocket. Keep it with your gun.

The Glock has a convenient opening behind the magazine well; I have rolled in there a notarized copy of the CCW and ID.
I know it is not valid, however, I believe it could help the officer take a smoother approach; maybe I am just kidding myself !!!

Any comments from you guys in Law Enforcement ???

I don't understand what a notarized copy of the CCW and ID is. You copied it, signed it in front of a notary?

Maybe ask Little Bear to make you a holster with a slot for your CWP in it so it's permanently attached to your carry holster?

Note that the license alone is not enough of an ID.

I do have one of those business card holders with my ID in it. I move my gun from my carry holster to 1 in the bed at night and in the morning when I am running late is when I forget the ID. I will have to keep it with my carry holster.

A $25 fine isn't bad but if I catch a LEO on a bad day it could be worse.
Thanks for the input.

If you kept your Florida Concealed Weapon License with your Drivers License, would that keep you from forgetting it, since you remember to take your drivers license with you in the AM?

All ways carry my wallet, rear left pocket (deep one) clear window, drivers Lic; one portion of credit card slots has Government stuff, including CCW and G Lic.

Never leave home without it!

Only had two vehicle stops in the 6 years I have lived in Florida, not asked if I have a firearm either time. Called number of times 911. Asked each time do I have a weapon, no, not true, "Do you have a Firearm" was the question.

The responding OCSO Deputy's never commented in any way, only dispatch.

We wear Company ID. I was once told by a responding female Deputy to "Stay in my vehicle" (call was man with machete) I exited the Jeep when the Officer was in the middle of trio with loud voices more or less surrounded her! I left when two more Deputy's arrived.

Met this same Officer at a Sheriffs function "Remember me do you" She said, big smile. When facing three, an old guy with a Glock 19 is nice to have on your side, actually a bit to the rear!
