My son lives in Seattle and sent me this.....

On July 1st of 2022, Washington State’s standard capacity magazine ban goes into effect. This ban means that no one in the state will be allowed to sell, buy, or transfer gun magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

Anyone caught with a firearm magazine holding more than 10 rounds acquired after June 2022 will be guilty of a misdemeanor and could be sent to jail for 364 days, plus a $5,000 fine. But here is the thing…

Gun owners are NOT required to prove when they received the magazines. Law enforcement must prove that the gun owner got the magazines AFTER the law went into effect.

So, what is the point of the law?
This law is nothing more than a feel-good gesture to the Pacific Northwest gun grabbers.

This useless new law will not make anyone safer. The politicians took a lot of money from Bloomberg front groups, and that is how they pay up. In return, these anti-freedom groups are going to use this “victory” to fundraise more money.

Another example of a stupid gun law serving no purpose in actually preventing crime or saving lives.

I can only add that pretty much every gun law that I have ever heard of fits into that category!

Oh, wait! No! I just thought of an exception. There was that Georgia town some years ago that passed a law requiring every law-abiding citizen to own a gun. I can get behind a gun law like that.

(Of course, they included an exception for anyone who didn't want to own a gun, which makes it kind of silly. Here's a law, but you are exempt if you don't feel like obeying this law.)

In California & Washington State it may be OK to steal Magazines without being arrested.
Just don't steal one that holds 11 rounds or mere.

I was in Seattle in 1995 on my Harley Trip and seen all the sights. I stayed in the Holiday Inn for a week and did the Greyline bus tours. Did a lot of walking, Cable cars, Eating and the city was beautiful.
What the hell happened??????????
I see on YouTube how horrible the city has gotten and how the Mayor even says tourists are not safe.
I'm just guessing, but did all of the California people that did not like the Nazi Socialist L.A. Government move to Seattle and decide to vote Democrat to make Seattle like the place they hated and moved out of??????
Just wondering.

Read about this on the 1911 forum when it passed. One of the admins there is from Wa. Would be impossible for them to not grandfather all already owned in before July. But the worrisome part is ‘law enforcement must prove it was obtained after.’ Any guess on who will have possession of said mag/s while the most likely endless investigation occurs? Who has receipts for those extra mags they got at a gun show? Nobody. Once taken I doubt they will ever be returned.

They can't confiscate it until it's determined to be in violation of the law. Ma. did the same damned thing 20+ years ago. No more g17 full capacity mags, no sig double stacks, you get the idea [ in Ma. it was also 10 rds only after a certain date that could be brought into the state.

Thing is, there was never reports about leo's taking higher than 10 rd mags from people, like at a range where they could easily spot more than 10 rd mags being used. No reports of people having to prove the mag was in state before the said date. IOW, it affected those buying mags after that date from normal sources like gun shops, internet etc.

None of that affected leo's [ reduced capacity mag mandate ] in the Commonwealth. When I wanted unobtainable through normal sources mags, I just called one of my buddies who could obtain them. No one could tell the difference from a mag bought the year before and that day. The leo's I knew ignored it for the most part as it's impossible to tell when the mag was in the state.

When I moved here, those same buds wanted to know if I could get them some mags for this that or some other new firearm that came with 10 rd mags, but of course I can, I live in the free state of Arizona (y)

DPRofMD enacted a similar ban on the manufacture, sale, or transfer of >10 rnd mags effective 01 OCT 2013, but the law said nothing about "possess" or "transport." So in effect, "what magazine ban?" 🤪

I don’t disagree. Even in Cali we rarely hear about things being taken.
BUT….unless it’s written that way in the new law so as to protect the owner and their innocence till proven otherwise the possibility does exist.
But you know that come 7/1/22 no more gun violence will occur there as a result of this. This is a tremendous victory for the safety of the general public and they should be so glad their congressional reps worked so tirelessly to protect them.

The gun grabbers seem, to feel that a magazine ((((WHICH THEY CALL """CLIPS""")))) will kill a person much deader then a Magazine that holds ten rounds or less.
If an honest citizen that is protecting their home or the family does shoot at a home invader or burglar, It is much safer for the criminal if the Victim of the crime only has ten rounds or less.
This is a good safety feature.
Ronnie

PS:
I'm taking my dozen or so 30+ round Glock Magazines and cutting them to make 3 ten round magazine out of each one to give me more magazines to drop & replace if a lot of home invaders all come at once.
