With the gun you normally carry on the streets. Could be an lcp, g17, NAA PUG if those are what you carry on the street.

;)
Am I confident of my ability with my carry gun? Yes.

How about with someone else's gun? Absolutely not. I had the much closer hostage shot at your F-on-F scenario, using someone else's airsoft. It turned out that the front sight post was missing, which I didn't notice until I took the first shot. 4" low...

It's great to set standards/tests in that it not only gets folks away from Dunning-Kruger, but also sets a baseline from which to either be content with or improve upon. Back to the question:

With my carry guns, I will hit the 6" square at 10 yards 100% of the time.

I will successfully hit at least the required 16/20 on the NRA Instructor Qualification 5" circle at fifteen yards every time.

I will hit the 2/3 TDI steel silhouette at 25 yards 100% of the time. For reference, as I work my way back to 50 yards, I will go at least two for three every time. At seventy-five yards, at least one out of four, usually two out of four.

Adding a par time to any such drill will dramatically change the initial results. At twenty-five yards, for example, my goal is to consistently score an A-zone hit from concealment in 1.5 seconds.

Five years ago, I would have said no. I'm closer today. Hit the dollar bill at 60 feet at the last class. Just need to keep practicing that in my range trips.
Training and practice make good things happen. Nicely done!

I have found that dry fire on those precision targets has helped me to improve considerably in a fairly short time.

No, I meant laterally instead of vertically. The vertical could be 15-20", it's can you score inside that 6" lateral window.

I asked the question because at one of the Volusia courses, I set up two threats covering most of a 3rd target just behind the two that left students with a 6" window. The dismal performance of the basics was disheartening to say the least.
Such performances can and will give us that baseline from which to improve.

I don't concern myself so much with dismal class results as I do with performance after applying the lessons learned from my failures.

It amazes me there's so many that can't, because they've never bothered to own the basics and have been shooting for, at times, decades.
For me, at least it was one of those you-don't-know-deals. I have had a fair number of them pointed out to in both force-on-force and real life scenarios over the years.

Basics are important, for sure, starting with an effective grip, which is something I've had to develop lately. The one(s) I have used worked well enough, right up until I needed a boost that previous approaches simply did not supply. Again, I didn't know what I didn't know. As it is, I'm trying to apply what I do know. Coming up on age 67, and I'm still learning new stuff.
