Recently I responded in this section on defensive edged weapons use/training. Thought I'd throw up some of the long knives I've carried over the years, all custom made for me by masters of steel.

Enjoy the photos and let me know what you think of some of these big boys that can be carried legally where I live [ no blade length restrictions ]. I'll post up another reply and describe the blades in the photos shortly.

First photos is of my Greg Covington Damascus custom bowie to my specs with premium grade elk stag handle. 10.5" blade

Second photo shows my custom Bill Bagwell Bowie in Damascus. The blade is 11 1/8" long with trapping guards. This is the best custom fighter you can buy today. Bills work is second to none where fighters are concerned.

Third photos shows at the top a handmade long blade made in the 1930's by a mountain man in Montana. It's made from a model A leaf spring.
The lower long blade is my "Brown Bowie", designed by myself and made for me of a custom piece of D2 out of Jessup Steel in Pa. It's blade is 12.5 inches long and overall it's 18". 3/8" thick, flat grind with 316 stainless guard and pommel with German nickel silver spacers.

Fourth photos shows the top three as various Bagwell long knives, and the two lower knives have been mentioned previously.

Fifth photo shows most of the high dollar long knives I've had made or purchased new when they became available.

Hope everyone likes the pics. The Bagwell and Covington get carried once in awhile, but the rest are strictly for collecting purposes.

Im pretty sure if you have a CCW you wouldnt be required to stick to a lenth of blade either...

But those are some bad-ass knifes man, were you carry that? parralell to the belt at 6 0 clock or something? or stuffed down the pants? those are huge! :drinks

See that first picture of the Covingtion Bowie and advantage camo kydex sheath?

I use those sheaths exclusively, their made by hand by a good friend of mine who's known as the kydex king of carry sheaths. The sheath system allows the blade to be carried in a multitude of positions stuck down your pants, that button on the sheath [ it's on the opposite side of the pic ] keeps the blade from falling into your pants leg. If you follow the link to Mikes sheaths, you'll see the Southern Comfort sheath, thats the ones I have for all my carry long blades.

From under a t shirt, they are as fast as drawing a gun from a strong side holster, usually my times for a draw and first backcut are at 1 second. Hell of a reach advantage on the long blades as well as the power the longer blades have in cutting.

Mike Sastre makes the sheaths. His company is http://www.rivercitysheaths.com/

Tell him Brownie sent ya. He's the best at this game, bar none.

Nice to revisit your big blades,Brownie. I don't personally know anyone else who has a collection of big boys that nice.

45Freak,the "stay sharp" pun is fact. Brownie's knives are so sharp that when you breath on one,you can hear the little molecules scream as they are sliced in half and fall on each side of the blade! I love the looks of the Bagwell Bowies.

:thumsup NOW WE'RE TALK'N!

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE them big blades!

Bowie design blades are beautiful and wicked. I currently have a Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie, Becker BK2, Schrade Extreme Survival and the famous BUCK Model 119 Special (your never a TRUE collector until you have a BUCK 119).

I also really like the SOG Sealpup as a small Bowie design.

Nice knives you have there Brownie! :bowdown
