YAHOO, whoohoo, YAY, awesome.....

Yes my dear friends, I have scratched the itch. I have been wanting one of these since I first saw them, so I went down to Florida Gun Center in Hialeah, talked to my buddy Roberto, and purchased a brand new.....wait for it.....

Kimber Ultra Carry II with Night Sights....

Yes sirreee bob. I am like a kid with a new Rock em Sock em robots game on Christmas, and no I am not going to play with the box instead.

So far I love this thing, and I haven't even shot it yet. Fits perfectly in my hand, conceals much better than my Ruger P345 (which is for sale now if anybody is interested - PM me), and it looks sweeeeeeet.

There are only two things so far that are a little less than awesome:

1. Kimber only includes one mag. I will probably have to get some Wilson Combat mags for it.
2. Dissasembly takes some getting used to, not nearly as easy as the Ruger, and includes a thin paper clip tool that could easily get lost.

But otherwise, I am as happy as a clam, except that now my better half wants one too. :banghead

Picture is included although with bad lighting...

The price at Florida Gun Center is listed as $828.00 which already a decent price. I am a regular customer there and I did receive a modest discount - nothing outrageous but out of respect to the shop, I prefer not to say exactly how much.

Roberto is the manager there. If you are a good customer they usually work with you.

I originally was coming in for the model without night sights, which they had for $736, but it sold out. I am happy I got the night sights though...

The Kimber Ultra Carry II is one highley recommended by alot of people, but not not so many carry due do the high price. I had an original Ultra Carry several years ago and got in a bind and had to sell it cause I knew I would get top dollar for it.....I put around 2000 rounds thru it with absoulutley 0 malfs. Great gun, carry the kimber name proud:) :) .......G30

Glock30:

Here's the thing. I am not a rich man. However, my previous EDC was a Ruger P345. It has served me fairly well. Shoots straight, eats any ammo I throw at it, and even though it is not a sub compact, carrying it was not too bad in an IWB.

However, my history with firearms started when I was 13 and my dad left me shoot his Colt 1911. It was an officer's sidearm he "acquired" from an opposing soldier in the Cuban Revolution. Believe it or not, he was able to smuggle it out of Cuba shortly after the revolution. He ran into the American Embassy when his friends were all disappearing for protesting against Fidel. He took it apart and stored it in separate compartments in his suitcase. So the 1911 has a special place in my heart.

Even as content as I have been with my Ruger, deep down I really wanted a 1911.

So.........

Birthday was coming up and better half kept pestering me to tell her what I wanted for my birthday. Then one day, she asked me the question that shall live in infamy....

"Forgetting about price for a moment, what gun would you most want to own?"

And that is how I came to own a Kimber. Sure we talked about layaway and saving for it, selling the Ruger first to help pay for it. But in the end we just went for it. There was no way I was going to be able to wait out a layaway...

You'll love it. It just feels perfect. I bought one last R&R on a whim, picked up 3 XD's and saw a Kimber in the case and checked it out, and left with it. It's now my favorite, even though I haven't spent much time with it. I got the Pro Carry II. All black.

As I said in the previous post...nice grab, SFT.

I was never a big fan of Kimber until this past weekend when I got to shoot the Tactical Ultra II that Jim45 just 'stole' from someone...very nice shooter. For the sub-compact (3") 1911s, it seems like Kimber has things working very well.

We'll be expecting a good range report (good, bad, indifferent) AND more Pics (preferably with a female in them...and the gun, of course)! :D

You will love it!
I bought mine back in February and it is absolutely my favorite.
It feels great in the hand and points like it is an extension of your finger.
It shoots extremely well for a 3" .45.
I had a few Failure to Feeds only because I was holding it a little too lightly.
Fixed my hold and no more problems. So far I have put over 1000 rounds through it with no malfunctions.
Teardown is a little different but you will get used to it. I keep my takedown pin in the case under the foam stuck to a little piece of stick on magnet and haven't lost it yet.

I love this gun and you will too!:thumsup

Very nice. I have a Stainless Ultra Carry II in 9mm, that I have 4,000 rounds through. You are going to absolutley love that gun.

I know that the prevailing wisdom is to get Wilson mags, that the Kimber mags are junk, but for whatever it may be worth, I have used Kimber mags for the 4,000 rounds without a problem.

Enjoy your new Kimber.
