Just reread the entire 'Mugger' thread in Defensive Scenarios, and as luck would have it, The Hunted is on again.....this was discussed a bit in the Mugger thread.

Great stuff in both the movie and that thread.

Oh look....Benicio's making a knife! :D

And he not only knows how to use it, he has the will to use it without hesitation when he feels threatened :D

The movie's 10 count angles of attack they show in the "blade training" scene are a little skewed from the 12 count I've been shown and trained in, but there's no question you'd be hard pressed to defend against a constantly moving blade from several different angles a second. :thumsup

I'm sure I don't want to try! A man skilled with the blade is a very dangerous thing, indeed.

I know it's a product of Hollyweird, but I do enjoy the movie. The training and fight scenes are a little more realistic (at least to laymen like me) than their usual fodder.

Indeed, I've watched the training and fight scenes twice in slow motion myself. The people that were advisors for that movie did a great job in this regard sir.

You'll get a chance to "play" with this soon enough :)

Tom Kier and one of the Kayanan twins, both Tuhons in Sayoc Kali, were the knife fighting consultants for the film. One of the templates shown was a truncated 3 of 9 vital template. You very rarely get a whole lot for free from Sayoc Kali.

Saw that flick in the theater with my two FMA instructors. Had fun picking out the techniques and principles used.

Dangit...had to look it up, as I wasn't positive, but it was Rafael Kayanan who was the other Sayoc Tuhon knife consultant. He was also a storyboard artist on the film, as he is also an accomplished comic book artist.

Funny thing, JT...I KNEW you'd know who provided the training for that movie....they did a good job.

Anybody have the DVD of that movie? Curious if there's anything about the training in the 'extras' like there is in Collateral.

I know, I know, but I've got so many good vhs movies and they still play fine.

8 track tapes? I was still using that system way past it's time as well. :rolf
