Well, the wifey and I had a date yesterday. A "******* date" if you will. We were both off work yesterday and she asked what I wanted to do so I said of course, "Let's go to a range and shoot my gun". I looked locally for information on ranges and we decided on one which allows our own supplies ie; ammo, targets etc... I won't tell the name because this is about our date. We took off in our sports car and went to McD's for some 49¢ hamburgers or 59¢ cheeseburgers plus fries and a drink to share. $7.00 total. Put ten bucks of gas in the car at the station next to McD's and were off on our merry way. Of course we had to stop at Wallyworld for some shooting glasses and earplugs. Did the perverbial WWW (been done before though) and got back on the road. I did check out the ammo situation and they were actually stocking some stuff but nothing between 32 and 45 caliber. We got to the range of choice signed in for the first time and shot 100 rounds of WWB 165 gr. and 100 of WWB 180 gr. in an hour. Ammo was collected using my allowance over the last six or seven months. So it wasn't too hard on the wallet in these "tough economic times" <--- I hate this statement. :laughing
Now with all that being said, this is the first time either of us have shot my weapon. I was impressed at our abilities to hit, (most of the time), an eight inch target at 25 feet with relatively good grouping. In other words "Center of Mass" was hit 85% of the time. We only did this for practice so we could get a "feel" for the weapon. It was very powerful and enlightning as an introduction into the handgun world. We both have shot long arms of different calibers including shotties and myself "expert" with the M16A2 in the service.
Anyway, after leaving the range high on gunsmoke, we went to the Army Surplus up the road to "browse" for "mall ninja" goodies ,then from there to the house to field strip and clean after the trip. At home the wifey asked about reloading. I said I was up for learning and getting equipment. She said we could look into it! :thumsup Also she now wants her own gun so it looks like she'll be going to class for her license. :dancingbanana
A couple of issues concerning sight picture, grip and stance did pop up during our range time but I will address those in another thread.
