What I'm getting at is throwing FC under the bus might not be warranted since they aren't associated with Michael. FC is really our only state level organization, and that's necessary since the NRA, FPC, and 2AF only have so much in the way of resources.
But FC did sponsor such "fishing" events, right? I seem to recall they were very focused on that. Very focused on making Open Carry "mainstream." So much so, that I terminated my membership.

They are not my kind of organization. Just my opinion. I'm all about advocating for the 2A. I've done it myself in the public spotlight. But, the obviously and intentionally provocative "fishing" and "2A auditing" events are not the right approach, IMO. Accordingly, I cannot support them.

^^^ I never joined them because of their open carry “fishing events”. I don’t believe that helps our cause at all and will not support or be associated with an organization that does that.

They've done a ton of them with little to no negative fallout. I can only think of two or three offhand where it got tense. The one controversial one involved Michael, but if you view it objectively, the cops were way out of line. Then again, bearding the lion in his lair (South Beach is very "blue") was very audacious.

In Texas, they advanced open carry by taking advantage of the small legal window that already existed. Here in Florida, with tact and skill, I suggest we do the same.

That being said since COVID I haven't seen one done. Maybe they decided internally to stop. Regardless, maintaining my membership isn't putting me in the poorhouse so I'll keep it. My opinion of FC still remains positive, but even if it weren't, I can't think of a state-level organization here besides them?

Welcome to FCC from Palm Beach County, wardog6670! 🍻

Considering that you've recently joined FCC, please take the time to actually educate yourself on how FCC really works (see last paragraph below) and then please post you're own proper Introduction Thread to FCC. This lets forum members get to know you more, of course without getting too personal while you also get to know us more! You can make that introduction by going to the Introduce Yourself section of The Front Office and start your very own introduction thread. Then lots of other FCC members will know to chime in to properly welcome you to the forum, will be more responsive in answering your questions, and I'll approve your post(s).

If you're a veteran, take a look at our Military Service Thread where you'll find many of us there, too!

In case you weren't aware, you can stay current on pertinent Florida Statutes regarding use of force and firearms law by going right to the source using these links for Chapter 776 - Justifiable Use of Force and Chapter 790 - Weapons and Firearms. I'd also like to suggest you obtain your own copy of FLORIDA FIREARMS Law, Use & Ownership by Jon Gutmacher!

Also, I highly recommend you read this thread to understand how to navigate FCC to get the most out of your experience. One particular item that's caught many veteran FCC members off guard is the "Recommended Reading" at the bottom of each page, which MAY contain quite old threads of inactive conversations lacking up-to-date information or context. So beware of the date of the last post (just to the right of the post number) in any thread you come across so you don't mistakenly think every post is recent and start responding to very old posts/threads that been dormant for quite some time, sometimes for many years.

Again, welcome to FCC and good luck!
Thank you. I've submitted my introduction and look forward to being included in the network of information.
