One of the most underrated handguns ther is, the Stoeger Cougar.
This handgun is one of the nicest guns I have owned or fired.

Right out of the box when you rack the slide it's like the slide is on ball bearings, so smooth. Everything works nicely.

This gun is accurate, dependable, low recoil, and just one nice shooter.
I own the Cougar compact 9mm, same as the full size, just shorter grip, 13 rounds instead of 15. Has a 3.6 barrel same as the full size, can be used for carry, range, or home defense.

I like it so much I recently bought another one which will never be fired.
Something I rarely do, but I want a mint Cougar to show people 20 years from now.

Do yourself a favor and try and find a Stoeger Cougar to shoot.

They make them in .40 S&W and .45 cal. also.

If you get one of these guns you will be glad you bought it.

Given my experience with Berettas (my EDC is a Nano that is flawless, before that it was a PX4 SC that was also flawless, owned a slick little Jetfire that was also dependable as can be, and never owned a 92FS but it was the best feeling, most ergonomic gun for me I've ever handled), I don't doubt that at all. Never had the pleasure of shooting one yet. The Stoeger is just a Beretta 8000-series Cougar being made in Turkey with Beretta tooling, kinda like how Taurus makes the PT92 version of a Beretta 92-series in the old Beretta factory in Brazil. I think - could be wrong - that Stoeger is still under the Beretta umbrella and there is probably more quality control assurance going on than there is with the Taurus guns.

I've got a Stoeger Couger in the 40cal. Excellent pistol and very accurate. Trigger is a dream. For the price, you can't go wrong in adding one of these fine pistols to your collection.

I also have a Stoeger Model 2000 semi auto shotgun that is damn nice. So I'm not one to label a mfg of firearms as 'poor' just because of the country of origin. Until you own one, or shoot plenty of rounds through one, you really can't give an honest opinion other than repeating what 'they' say online.
