That's what I was told by DOA today.
"Well, its been over 90 days already", I said.
The woman I spoke to (not supervisor) said that there must be something in my criminal past that they're looking into. I KNOW that is not possible. I'm clean.
I asked her if she could tell me what it was. She simply replied, "No".

Is this a typical BS response? I've read the whole "not in system"/"in system" stuff before but never heard anyone post something like this.

Whatcha think?

I could go off and be real nasty here, but I have to say the folks I have talked to on the phone up there are not exactly the best at customer svc./communication/information... the last time I called, the lady wasn't helpful at all and hard to understand because she was eating while on the phone. This was after waiting for twenty minutes for someone.

I wonder why the system would show someone without a criminal history to have one? Hopefully it is just an error on her part and your license is not delayed!

I can't imagine how many phone calls those people get every day..While understaffed, under budgeted, under paid, the State making cuts and layoffs etc..yet somehow you guys still get thru to somebody..Tie up computers so they can search for your records, cashed your check or not..in the system or not..etc etc etc..then put up with all the different attitudes and expectations of the callers..Glad I dont have that job..Some of you need to take a break..wait your 90 days. If you dont see it by then, go ahead and give them a call. I'm sure all the phone calls have to be twisting the manpower, computers and phone lines into knots much less the people that work there..All I can see is further delays for everyone. Keep your pants on boys and girls..If you filled it out right, went thru all the proper procedures with proper paperwork, you'll get it..IN DUE TIME. Relax, it'll be in the mail when it's DONE..

If your past your 90 days from when they received your application, you need to speak to a supervisor and get their name. If the supervisor cannot tell you why, then file a complaint.

+1 Definitely call and ask for a supervisor if your past 90 days.. As others have said, it's written into the law that within 90 days of receiving your app, they will either issue your lisence or tell you why you were denied!! (And for what it's worth, I've read that the girl who first answeres the phone there is not exactly the easiest going cs rep, and will say about anything to just get you off the phone.. So, you see the importance in asking to speak to a supervisor in the ccw dept.. ;)

I wouldn't get to worked up over the 90 day mark either...the system was never set up to handle the kind of volume they're experiencing. Demanding that they comply with the law ain't gonna make it happen. Of course if you want to stomp your feet and hold your breath, your welcome to do so. :laughing

Besides, if all you Johnny-come-lately's had gotten your permits years ago instead of waiting for the regime change, you wouldn't have been caught in this predicament. :D

Regardless, The state would need to make good on the 90 day issue. Today marks day 66 for me. My first call to DOA will be 3/12 :D Until then, :popcorn

If they are processing non-resident applications in with Florida resident applications that bogs down the system too.

Floridians should have priority!

There ought to be a separate area taking care of the customers of these out of state "license mills" .

when you call make sure you ask to speak to someone in the concealed license dept the girl who answers the phone just blows everyone off.
+1.. I dont think I will have a problem with license issuance. The DOA is actually one of the accounts I handle for my company. I am sure one of my contacts can give me the name of a person to call in the concealed weapons dept. I don't want any special favors. I will wait like everyone else for the process to complete. If I have to call, I will make sure I am talking to the top dog there.

Ask For Supervisor

I posted to this before, after repeated calls inquiring about my CCWL, I finally asked in a nice way to speak to a supervisor.

The supervisor checked on my application and said it had been approved and would be mailed out the next morning.

The person that answered my call, told me I was in the system and application was being processed.

I relayed what she said to the supervisor, and was told they are only contract workers that answer the phone, and don't know a lot about procedures.

Best way to go is ask for a supervisor..:)
