This is my first non-military issued weapon. Right now it's still a paperweight until I get my permit (hopefully July). I've been to the range a few times and will continue to practice.

If you own this pistol (S&W M&P 9mm Compact) I was hoping to get your opinion on how it has performed for you.

Thanks.

Mine has been great! I had some FTE issues at the begining. I had the feed ramp and chamber throat polished and it's been flawless ever since (650rds). It is extremely accurate and controlable. Congrats on your new M&P you'll love it!

Feild Strip

I field stripped it for the first time today. I think everything went well.

But looking at the muzzel from the front it appears the metal is not perfectly centered. There space on the top. I don't recall if it looked this way before.

I re-field stripped it again and it appears to be fine. Has any one else noticed this looking at the front?

Please post some pics this way everyone can see what you are referring to.
Makes it easier to identify the problem.

You have nothing to worry about, if you notice when you rack the slide the barrel tilts up. If it were flush around the muzzle/barrel area the weapon would not function.

I have had a great experience with mine, after some initial frustration. Some earlier M&Ps had issues with dropping magazines. S&W fixed it. Works great. I have 2,000 rounds downrange.

I have the 9c and I think its one of the best pistols i've ever owned!!! Fits my hand perfect and it really took alot of testing and time to determine that. For some reason I have large hands....lol. I have 500rds fired with only 1 FTF.(ammo issue)

Moylan, I don't personally own one myself, but I've heard nothing but good things about your firearm. I don't think it would ever let you down. :thumsup :drinks

Picture of front

This is my first time uploading pictures. But this is the front showing the space above the barrel within the slide. I was curious if the space above the muzzle is ok not being centered. I only noticed this after field stripping for the first time.

I have the service model M&P-9 and it has been a shooter right out of the box. I use mine for home protection and two high cap mags for it. If I do my part it is very accrate.
