Shot Shell Ammo

I am curious if anyone has ever used or thought about using this type of ammo. I always see it available online when everything else is sold out. So I'm thinking not many people like/want this type of ammo.
Personally, I think it's cool, but I doubt that I would ever use it. Well, maybe once just to see what it does.
Do commercial ranges allow shot ammo?

I assume you are referring to "snake shot" or "rat shot". Those are about the only things that particular type of ammo is good for. If you shot a person or a larger animal with it, you're probably just going to make them mad.

This is from Natchez:
CCI Blazer Shotshell Ammunition
The 45 Colt Shotshell with a big payload of #9 shot. The 44 Shotshell now chambers both 44 Special and 44 Magnum revolvers. The 9mm Lugers, 40 S&W & 45 Auto shotshells are designed to function in most semi automatic handguns. Packed in reusable boxes of ten shotshells.10/Box

Is this the same as "snake shot"?
yes that's what we floridians refer to as snake shot or rat shot.

edit: FYI, even for snakes it's only effective up to a few yards because the shot spreads out very quickly, but it's good to have if you are traipsing through the woods or canoeing down the river.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll keep my money then, Not many snakes around my neighborhood. I just run 'em over with the lawn mower!
But that ammo is very good for shooting stray cats and dogs in the a** when they come on your property. I have plenty of it for use in my .22 bolt action rifle.
If you shoot a human with this ammo, it probably not kill them, but it will hurt very much. It will feel like getting shot with 10 high power BB guns all at once. It will make them flinch.
I have used CCI shotshells fairly extensively for pest control on my property. The .22s are virtually useless at anything other than point blank range, but a .38 Special shotshell will turn a rat or a snake into something that looks like a failed teleportation experiment from 20 feet. :puke

The 9mm shotshells cycle my Glock 17 and my daughter's G19 just fine, and I have used Remington shotshells in .45 ACP that functioned just like ball ammo and thoroughly ventilated both sides of a steel gas can.

They are great for their intended purpose, but should not be considered suitable for defensive use against two-leggers. ;)
Like DeadEye, I can personally vouch for what a CCI .38 shotshell will do to a rat and a good-sized copper-headed-water-rattler from a reasonable distance....not much for CSI to work with.
