If memory serves me correctly, the first school shooting was in the 40s, with six dead. Albeit all adults, I believe. I also remember seeing there were more shootings in the 90s than today.

I agree with you on the news thing. We're more connected than ever now. 24-hour news cycle, phone alerts, emails, and the list goes on.

It's called the Fallacy of Misleading Vividness. While we HEAR about it more (with news at the speed of internet), it's not necessarily happening more. It just SEEMS like there's more now. If you asked almost anyone out there, "Is violent crime / murder up or down?" Most would say, "UP!" They'd be wrong, of course. Violent crime and murder are both down about 50% since 1993 (if memory serves).

THAT'S the one I was thinking of but couldn't remember.

Thanks, Doc. :thumsup

I think there is some value in trying to understand the underlying reasons that these things happen, BUT...

Asking the perpetrator why he did it is a complete waste of time, in at least 99.9% of the cases. So, the fact that he did not leave a letter behind, giving us all his rationalization for this insane act, is not any kind of loss at all. Same as, when they don't end with a suicide, asking the perpetrator why he did it is a pointless waste of time. Most of the time they don't know why they did it, and the rest of the time they're not going to give you an honest, meaningful answer to the question anyway.

And then, even if you don't rely on asking them why, and instead do some investigation into what led up to it, in the end the answer is STILL going to be "the m***********r was crazy."

The biggest danger in today’s America is schools (albeit, not ALL schools) brainwashing our children into becoming Libtarded, socialist loving, anti AMERICAN Heritage zombies. Perhaps schools should be banned? :dunno :grin

Yeppers!

Why does a rabid dog bite? BECAUSE HE'S RABID. That's why.

Yeah, because there's no value in finding out what causes rabies, or how it's transmitted, or how to prevent or treat it. Because figuring things out is just a waste of time.

You don't ask the dog (which just bit you) for its opinion on how to prevent rabies, eh?

:rofl

I'm suddenly reminded of the scene from "The Pink Panther" movie with Peter Sellers...

Does your dog bite?

No.

(reaches down to pet dog)

CHOMP! (dog bites Inspector Clouseau).

You said your dog does not bite.

It's not my dog.

The important thing is, now they can’t ask the spun out little bastard nuttin, cause he put a hole through his pos head! My analysis is “ HE’s CURED”. Weather the FBI agrees or not, I don’t give a schitt.

What is very apparent is a 16 year old can kill you as easy as anyone else. So what will you do the next time a kid points a gun at you?

It was a 13 & 14 year old that murdered my Grandmother by beating her to death.
The 13 year old got off free because he was a witness but the 14 year old got LIFE.
After 25 years he was up for parole but I put a stop to that.
I got calls from VINE telling me to watch out for retaliation because he was really mad at what I did to keep him in prison.
It did "NOT" matter because Obama turned him loose and now he is free and walking around Florida along with the other criminals & thugs turned loose on Florida citizens.
Never ever think a 13 or 14 year old kid won't kill you.
It would be your very last mistake.
