I have a co-worker that his dad recently passed away and he has his fathers guns and need to send them to his nephew in California, what will be the best way to do that? Does he need an FFL dealer or can he send them using FedEx or UPS?

There are a lot of restrictions on what firearms can enter and be transferred to California residents lawfully.

The normal process would be for the nephew to find an ffl dealer local to him in Ca. so the co-worker could send the guns to the ffl and who then transfer the guns through 4473 forms to the nephew legally.

My advice being it's Ca? Have the co-worker call the ffl in Ca. the gun will be shipped to and verify EVERY gun by make and model to determine they can enter Ca. and be transferred legally to the nephew.

And you can only ship, legally, through Fed Ex. Also, there are only certain Fed Ex locations that accept the firearms for shipping. Check the Fed Ex website to find a location.
Is that a California restriction to only use FedEx I'm not aware of?

Guns are regularly shipped through UPS from individuals who send them to others going through our FFL and from our UPS station all across the US to other FFL's by customers as well.

You can ship anything you want via UPS OR Fed-EX. Handguns must go Next-Day.

You cannot ship handguns via USPS, unless you hold an FFL.

.....but you all ready knew all of that. :D

easiest and probably cheapest way:

Arrange for an FFL on your end to send it to a FFL in California.
They can send us mail and there aren't any hassels.
