Keep in mind that when you are on any field trip weather it be a School or college you go on that field trip still under the rules regulaions or Policies that fall under that category.
just my opinion but I bet i'm not far from it.

I believe legally you are allowed to carry to a non-athletic function.

The school may have a different rule.
