saga ends with a twist

Got my call back today from Tallahassee after calling Bronson's office to voice my displeasure of 3 messages with never a return message from a sipervisor as promised.

Apparantly I got someone's attention as the Bureau Chief put me on conference call with the gun range I took my class at and had them fax over a copy of the instructor's cerification, which was unclear on their records.

She asked me to let her look it over and she will get back to me later. By now, we are on first name basis.

My cel phone rang a little while ago and it was my friend from Tallahassee telling my my license is issued and I am now in the printing line and should expect my license in 7 days or so.:dancingbanana

Now the irony:

The whole time I was talking to her a call waiting beep was on my phone, and obviously not worth putting her on hold for.

Once I got done doing a few dances around the room, I checked my messages and it was a supervisor returning one of my 3 calls from last week!!!

In any event, what an interesting ride, and here are my updated stats:

Sent app: Dec 26
Recieved by DOA Jan 5
Check Cashed: Feb 3
Issued: Apr 7

Recieved: ????

Final conclusion:

1. Making a persistant demand for a supervisor will make your license get issued.

2. Floridaconcealedcarry.com was found by mistake while googling wait times and provided a real idea of what to expect as well as a great support group. I came for the chart, but will stay because of the membership here.

Congratulations! Your timeline is exactly like mine except I was told today my application hadn't even been processed yet. My polite request to be put through to a supervisor was denied. I'm a little ticked off.
Congrats floydpink. Sure seems like calling assures results if you can get to a super or higher.
Congrats.

I'm glad you decided to stick around after you got issued. I would hate to think you just used us then dumped us when were weren't needed anymore.:D
Congrats, your persistence paid off

Well perhaps it's time to show your arse lol. :rolf
If I was doing it again, I would tell them I will hold until a supervisor is available.

If I have to hear that hold message one more time, I'll go nuts. "Did you know that having your prints done digitally can signifigantly reduce the time needed to process you application?" yada yada yada) I have it memorized already.

The person who helped me said they have 100 bins of apps still on backlog.:thumbsdwn

t I believe the trick is to get out of that backlog, and it seems the only way is to let them know you're not going away, and you are very familiar with the statutes governing processing time in the politest way possible.

Repeat daily until desired results are achieved.:D

I know what you mean about that hold message. Anyway one day later mine came through as well with no supervisor involved. I did let the lady I talked with yesterday know (very politely) that I was familiar with the statutes governing processing time. Don't know whether or not that helped in getting me out of the "queue".
speaking of statutes governing processing times, the gun shop that I took the ccw class at has a couple employees that are under the impression there is an extension in the works trying to make it 6 months. This is strictly heresay and they are the only ones I have heard this from.
That would require an amendment of not only the CCW statute but the FL administrative procedures act as well. I will see if I can find out annything. If they have any specifics please ask thhem or PM me with their contact info and I will ask.
I agree, fridaddy. It's not like they can change 790 and 120 on a whim. If you haven't heard anything abuot it from the legislature yet, you won't. I haven't seen anything proffered in the House or Senate concerning this. There have been a couple of bills introduced concerning DOACS and Concealed Carry by Judges, but nothing about the processing time for licenses.

Session is half-over...nothing new will be introduced at this point, unless Gov "SendMeSomeMoney" calls a special session for some idiotic reason.
