I have been looking for a good target pistol and have read numerous praises over the Rugers. I found a couple of different ones this weekend however I have some questions. Does anyone have any preferences or opinions on the polymer grips vs the metal (cocobolo ??) grip.

The polymer grip pistol was cheaper, which is not my deciding factor in purchasing a firearms, but seemed kind of flimsy, like it could crack easily. Not that I am hard on my firearms, but stuff happens. The polymer just seemed a little thin to me. When I applied pressure, with the clip out, it flexed a little. What kind of life expectancy do these have?

Not that I want a metal frame vs a polymer frame debate, I own a XD 45, which i love, its just expensive to shoot all of the time.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 22/45 that I set up for steel challenge shooting. I installed a Volquartsen trigger and comp and a Hogue slip-on grip.

The gun was just as accurate before the mods, but it's a lot easier to get the accuracy now, if you know what I mean!
I'm not worried about durability at all. The plastic frame will likely last forever.
