Just curious, as my renewal is right around the corner...... How long 'til "D" (Disarm) Day for you? Did you get a renewal pkg early, or did they send it 90 days out?

Sent it early like 90 days till disarm day, being LEO not really warried about being disarmed.Just curious, as my renewal is right around the corner...... How long 'til "D" (Disarm) Day for you? Did you get a renewal pkg early, or did they send it 90 days out?
Do they actually require the cool off period for LEOs? Oh well, another one of those well thought out laws. Before Alabama went to the NICS system, I used to laugh at how silly the waiting period was. It didn't make sense that I could go into a gun shop wearing a concealed weapon with my permit, but I had to have a cooling off period before I could pick up a new firearm. Makes a lot of sense doesn't it?Sent it early like 90 days till disarm day, being LEO not really warried about being disarmed.
But I Do not like having a cool off period purchasing a handgun.
When I was LE, I didn't have to wait to buy a firearm. Go in uniform and see if they challenge you.Sent it early like 90 days till disarm day, being LEO not really warried about being disarmed.

Under the letterhead of your dept. you can, but not as a private citizen without having a conceal license. When I was LE, I didn't have to wait to buy a firearm. Go in uniform and see if they challenge you.
That stinks that they have that law in (Florida). Ohio here and they do not have any wait time. What amazes me though, I would bet that most people that buy guns probably already have a gun. So in my opinion that law is foolish. Think about it, I bet 90% of the buyers are not first time buyers when you go to a gun store. What is that law going to really do for you?Sent it early like 90 days till disarm day, being LEO not really warried about being disarmed.

I was on Duty/call to duty 24 hrs/7 days a week like all Deputy Sheriffs in the County. I would show my credentials and pick the gun up the same day. This was Pre- 2000. If the laws changed since then, that would be ridiculous law.Under the letterhead of your dept. you can, but not as a private citizen without having a conceal license.
It is ridiculous, but here's the stat.,I was on Duty/call to duty 24 hrs/7 days a week like all Deputy Sheriffs in the County. I would show my credentials and pick the gun up the same day. This was Pre- 2000. If the laws changed since then, that would be ridiculous law.
Stupidest Law on the books. This tells me that Florida is in it for the money.. I can understand if your retired and don't have a license. (me), but active duty? that is just wrong. I was carrying off duty when I purchased my new firearms. Maybe that had something to do with it?It is ridiculous, but here's the stat.,
[3] Section 790.0655(1)(a), Fla. Stat. Pursuant to s. 790.0655(2), Fla. Stat., the three day waiting period does not apply when a handgun is being purchased by the holder of a concealed weapons permit or when another handgun is being traded in. Violation of the statute providing the three day waiting period is made a third degree felony by s. 790.0655(3), Fla. Stat.

Is that a typo??I just renewed my CWFL...19 days from mailbox to mailbox. :thumsup
And if you trade in a gun on a new gun, the waiting period is waived.
