You mean the guys whose offices are protected by metal detectors and armed police? Who get police protection at the drop of a hat? Who keep AR-15's in their apartments in Washington DC despite the DC gun ban? I'm sure that they'll be happy to listen.:laughing

I remember several years ago hearing a rumor that some department or another had to take "To Protect and Serve" off their vehicles because it was determined that they're not required to protect.

It is more like, Police Officers cannot be everywhere at one time. All of the officers that I ever worked with WANTED to protect and serve, but wanting to and being able to are two different things.

Thus, the officers that I worked with had the opinion that the citizen SHOULD be armed to be able to defend themselves until we could arrive and then " Protect and Serve " them.

My sis was a cop for more than 15yrs. Was offered Chief but refused as she dont play politics, and even worked for the Marshals. Her husband is also a career sheriffs officer. While I like to think they were always fair and the majority of our LEO's are, the bad apples do make the news.
I do applaud the efforts of our civil servants who put there life on the line. Most all of them would have no issue protecting you and me. But this is just a reminder that ultimately we have to take care of ourselves first. Personal responsibility is key.
