Mailed two applications on September 18th. Both received on October 2 (green card). My wife's license was issued on November 20 and received on the 24th. My license should be right behind it right? WRONG! Just called the state, in the system but not yet processed. No sense in checking the mail today!

:( that sucks. However look on the bright side. At least they did not loose your application or have you do your fingerprints all over again.

That right there is a darned miracle. Most people are reporting 60-day (and longer) turn arounds from the time the check is cashed. (It was 3 weeks from the time I mailed my application until the check hit my bank. So 60 days after that is pushing close to 90 days from mailing.)

I mailed mine October 21st and have (so far) refrained from calling to check. I figure every call they field takes time away from processing applications. I know it'll be January (or later) before mine arrives. If I haven't gotten it by my birthday (in February) I'll break down and call.

The Wait

It took 89 days to get mine. My fingerprint's were rejected by FBI as illegible, and had to be redone..

I submitted electronic prints which were supposed to cut the wait time 2 -4 weeks..:rolf.

Mailed application August 29th, received license November 26.

My carry weapon is a Glock 27 .40 cal

The check for my permit cleared Oct 10 2008. Did electronic fingerprinting. As yet, they don't have it in the system, or whatever that means... they have it, but they haven't processed it.

Anybody want to give me an idea of when I'll finally get the darn thing? Every day I check the mail, and every day... sigh

You are engaging in the practice commonly referred to as "digging trenches". It seems to be an epidemic here in Florida with no end in sight. Common cures are imitating the extremely patient behavior of MamaBear :angel and/or going to the range to shoot off some steam. Literally.

Otherwise, you are following in the footsteps of some mighty fine people who have found this site and have somehow managed to live between the mailing of the application and the receiving of the license.

Basically you're just going to have to man-up and wait your turn like the rest of us did. :D :rolf

It could be worse. I applied for a target permit in New York City waited for 6 months to receive it. I was then able to purchase a firearm.

I am about to send my Concealed Permit this weekend. I did the Live Scan finger printing and the application. I just need to get it notarized. I may pay by money order to save a few days for the "check to clear". I am hoping that they will cut me some slack as I worked as a Corrections Officer in Florida for 10 yrs. I have been out of that job for 9 yrs so I am not eligible for a former Law Enforcement discount. I will submit a copy of my Florida State Certification and Criminal Justice Handgun certificate as proof that I have been trained to carry.

I am hoping that they still have my old employment records on file. Then they would only need to back 9 yrs for the criminal check.

I'll keep you all posted.

I know it sucks waiting, as I had to wait nearly the full 90 days for my license back when I got it. And, it seems it's taking longer for them to process the applications these days, particularly since the election. That could just be me. I don't have data to back that up.

However, to steve66's point, be thankful that we're in a state where (for the moment) the only obstacle is really time spent waiting, and we don't have to do any silly application process for the simple purchase of a firearm.

At Last!

The mail box gods looked kindly on me today. It finally arrived in the mail. From September 18 through December 12 is way to long for the state to acknowledge a right you have as a Florida resident.:dancingbanana

Wally walk

Walmart is about 120 miles away from me. A little far to travel on such short notice. I will plan a special trip though:pistols The Big Pine Key flea market is the closest we have to a mall in this area!
