Had an interesting thing happen at the range today.

No malfunctions.... except one weird thing.

I decided to fire a few rounds from my current EDC's spare mag (HST +P 147-gr) in my pocket. I fired off about 6 or 7 rounds. Then decided to stop. Dropped the mag (partially full). Then I tried to manually eject the remaining chambered round, and the slide wouldn't budge. I pulled hard. No dice! Tried again. Fail! It was not coming out that way.

So with the mag still out, I figured I'd just fire that last round and see what happens. Bang! Slide cycled, and the shell extracted and ejected normally.

What gives? Any ideas? I'm thinking bullet length has something to do with it. I'm going to compare them.

Maybe tighter tolerances with the SD ammo?

Perhaps next time try to rack one out of the chamber with the mag in place?

I went to the local outdoor range today. They have much better benches than the indoor range. So, I could use my pistol bench rest to tweak the new optic zero at 25 yards.
This is the range (on a different day with a different gun):

Maybe it's just me, but I had to learn how to shoot on a bench rest. It's actually a "whole other thing." Even with the bench rest, I was shooting "all over the place." Especially with the FMJ ammo.

Finally, I loaded up some defensive HP ammo to do the final adjustments to the Holosun 507.

Eventually, I got consistent groups such that I could make adjustments to the optic. After that, I headed over to the 10 yard range for some offhand shooting.

I now have 1500 rounds through this build. 1,130 since the last malfunction. I think this baby is ready to go! I'm very pleased with this build.

Now I wait for the holster. I am quite happy with this build! Looking forward to it becoming my EDC and getting better at shooting it.

LOL! They exist... watch kits. They don't get good reviews.

Yep, most of those “kits” use a generic movement and cheap cases but, they sure charge a lot for them.

Holster is "out for delivery!" Early! Woo-hoooo!

My Vedder holster arrived! It came in a cool draw-string pouch. Included were: an introductory letter, a little instruction booklet / catalog, and a sticker.

The holster seems to be well constructed. The "Holstex" shell (an upgrade from kydex) is permanently riveted to the horsehide backing. So that is not user-replaceable. Hopefully it will hold up a long time. The clips are spring steel and appear to be very similar to the clips used by Crossbreed, minus the "cross." As you can see, I like Crossbreed's clips, which I transplanted to my White Hats holster that I've used for many years. So, I'm pleased with the Vedder clips.

And now.... for the break-in of the horsehide backing... will take some time. But, I'm happy to have a holster that is designed to fit the Polymer80 PFC9. It will take a while to get it broken in, settled in, and adjusted for depth and cant.

As of today - Over 2100 rounds through the PFC9 (serialized finished frame that I built out for carry).

I think I can call it reliable! Had a few FTFs during the first 300 rounds. Got that worked out, and it's been flawless since.
