Overkill?

I shouldn't even ask this question because the guy that told me I was carring overkill is my "brother-in - law" and guess what he was in the Coast Guard but got thrown out due to health issues.

But since he's one that "knows everything about everthing"

I made the mistake of letting him see me get dressed, and I usually carry my glock on my left handed holster, being that I'm left handed.....but this is where it gets me pissed,,,,,,,because he sees me putting my right holster with my 357 magnum. And immediatly i'm told that most shootings happen within 2 seconds so the guns would probably do me no good anyway,

I tried to explain calmly that not all muggings or robberies aren't carried out by ONE person. So if my glock runs out I have 6 more rounds then i'm screwed but hopefully they will all be dead.

I normally only carry my glock, but when I go out with this crazy crowd "inlaws" I would carry a bazooka if I could.

What do you think?:ak:ak:ak

Do we have any lightsaber instructors on the forum? Brownie would be my first guess at having the training.
I think this guy is available ... :D

That's the guy you want to go to for light sabre training if you can locate him :rolf

Wow. Talk about a "Wall of Edge"! :rolf

Wonder if LittleBear makes an IWB rig for those. :D :laughing
I don't know. Light sabre's make me nervous and I'm pretty sure Yoda is dead, as much as Yoda can be dead.
I LOL'ed at optimus heavy, I play that game almost everyday.
thanks everyone

ok i'm going out on a limb and guessing "BuG" stands for backup gun?

Yep.

My take: Ignore the BiL. He's not paying for a personal security detail for you and the family 24/7, so he has zero say.

On a more practical matter, I say good foresight in carrying two firearms. If I could afford it, I'd probably do it myself, and in due time I know I will. The reasoning about mechanical failure is good and fine, and one that I personally agree with. :thumsup
Obviously, you've not been to WallyWorld at Phillips and Emerson. :D

I don't carry extra mags/guns for the added ammo they provide. I carry them because : censored happens and guns fail....even Glocks, Capn. Having 40 rounds on board means diddly if the gun doesn't go bang.
IF I have to go somewhere that is even slightly unsavory...I'm calling Rvrctyrngr. I hear he carries several guns and is a really good shot!
That's my plan and I'm sticking to it!:drinks

Shoot, I've got Brownie and TampaSSgt on speed dial. :rolf

BTW, congrats on your 700th post, Franklin! :drinks :thumsup

He's not alone in his thinking. Some states only allow you to carry one gun at a time.
Some states (I'm not going to try to say which ones, because I'm not sure, but I BELIEVE it's Cali) actually list on the permit which guns you are allowed to carry.
You are only allowed two guns per registration, and if you get stopped, you better have only one of the two. If you have four you like to switch up with, you have to apply for additional licenses.

Gotta love it, it's not just guns though, some states make you get a permit for a protest, and tell you where you may stand. A permit for your right to gather and exercise free speech (unless you are burning a flag, California encourages that I sometimes feel).
I'm just wondering when these guys are going to start regulating the rest of them. Marriage tests before you can invoke spousal privilege, integrity tests and a permit for invoking Miranda, a permit required to invoke freedom from illegal searches ("We're here to search".. 'Do you have a warrant?" "No, don't need one, unless you have a State Right to Exercise the 4th Amend permit and valid I.D......)

The OP asked about "Overkill". My point (which I obviously did not make clear) was that for the "ORDINARY" person ONE gun should be enough. It is one MORE than 90% of the population carries on them every day. I feel that if I can't protect myself with 10, 12, or 20 rounds depending on my WOTD..... I WENT WHERE I SHOULDN'T HAVE! No sense in pissin up each other's leg about what is enough, because it is a subjective argument.:drinks

YES, feces can hit the ventilating machine at any time, as can space junk fall from the sky. Life is about statistics, I am not familiar with the intersection you cite, but I'll bet THOUSANDS of people travel through it every day without being killed, robbed, whatever... just as darn few people are ever killed by space junk falling on their head.

Yes even my beloved Glocks will misfire..... although statistically VERY RARELY. That said, I guarantee I can cycle it and clear the jam faster than you can get to your BUG.:deadhorse
Not if your trigger spring breaks! Been there, done that one. - In a match, not in a self-defense shooting...Pissed me off too, cause I zeroed that stage:mad:

BTDT, as well, brother. That's exactly what I was talking about. :thumsup
Overkill doesn't exist in a gunfight :thumsup
Overkill??? I carry a XD40 sub compact and a .380 mouse gun. IMO a second loaded gun is better than a spare mag.
