Im planning on going up to Delaware this weekend to visit some family, so it got me looking into other states gun laws. I dont have my CWP yet sent it in about a month and a half a go. so that makes it a little riskier but as long as I keep it in my glove box, in a case I think I should be fine up to D.C. which is the problem. Im not sure i want to risk taking it through there I dont think my family would like to see me getting a police beatdown.:smack but even if I dont go through D.C. and I go another route I still have to go through maryland which is also a Pain in the azz. you have to prove you are going home, place of business or somewhere it would be necessary to use (hunting, shooting range Etc).Federal law allows transport for one place to another as long as it is legal in both start and destination, but you have to carry it unloaded in trunk separate from ammo (pretty much useless unless Im being attacked like in the movies, in super slow motion.) delaware seemed fine as long as it in my glove box. anyway I may have interpreted some of the state laws wrong but It doesnt look Like Ill be bringing my glock. Im not too worry Ill just have to result to my super stealth ninja moves. Anyway It just opened my eyes to how lucky we are with Florida s gun laws, but I guess when you live in a state where law makers do their best to make it harder to legally defend yourself, you dont have to worry about bad guys the system just takes care of itself.

Traveling

I had to take a trip up to the People's Republic of Rhode Island (pre CCW License).

Pistol stayed home strapped to side of bed.

It doesn't seem worth it to lug it around in a locked hard case.

In the event that it would be needed, I doubt I could ask for a "time-out" while I get my key, unlock the box, load gun and then, if I was still alive, say that "I was in immediate danger of death or bodily harm"
NC has open carry, as long as an officer can see it if he walks up to your car then you're ok. Doesn't have to be unloaded either. When I lived there we'd go through a license check and I'd tell them it was in the seat beside me, most of the time they'd shine a light on it and say "so it is, license and registration please".

SC had the unloaded and locked rule.
I would read up on the states your going through and make sure you understand what they require.

You don't have your CCW yet? Leave the gun home.
I don't think you're legal in Delaware without it and then the Federal Travel Rules say you're not covered.

I don't understand.. You choose to be unarmed ALL the way because by law, you must be in Maryland???? As long as it is legal to OWN the gun in Delaware, it is legal for you to take it TO Delaware.

It's still legal to OWN the gun, just not to carry it concealed without a license. According to http://opencarry.org/de.html, it's an OC State, so he can carry openly without license.
