I read somewhere that you have to have been living a certain amount of days in Florida before you apply for a permit, I think it was 90 days but still.

Now, thanks to some nice delays, it might take an additional 30 days or so before we get to get over to Miami. God know where we shall live in that time, but now to my question.

Can I as a legal alien in the US apply for a out of state permit? Does it make a difference how long I have been in California? I would like to get my permit before Obama turns the US into the UK..

Anyway, enjoy the 65 and sunny, here it is 55 and very wet.

Thanks.

You can read the instructions here: http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/ap.../Concealed Weapon_ApplicationInstructions.pdf

and here: http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/weapons/index.html

That includes where to order the application: http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/license/forms.html

There are a number of classes that will meet the training requirements if needed. You can get fingerprinted at a local LEO facility (you may have to get outside the city). The instructions are pretty clear. Photos at most drug stores. I tried to snap a picture of what the request for the application should look like:

You can apply for the Florida non-resident permit. Once you move and become a resident it converts to a resident permit with just a change of address request.
Excuse me...question here. Someone in Florida can answer this I hope. Let me get this straight. If I have a out of state CCW from florida and I submit for a address change "online" and it will automatically change to a resident? Is there proof that I have to show that I am a resident or anything. For example my mother lives in florida and if I change my address online and put her my address what happens? I am just curious to know what happens.

There is no 'resident' or 'non-resident' license. They are the same. A FL CWFL issued to someone in New York looks just like the one I have in my wallet next to my CCW badge (just kidding about the badge).

The only difference is that if you have a non-FL address on your license, your renewal fee is higher.

I wouldn't say a lot, in fact it hasn't come up. I've been pulled in both GA and AL with my FL CWFL with an out of date addy on the card. No questions. Another time had a MWAG call in FL. LEO came hand on gun....run the number on the gun, said don't reload to we are gone.

Be careful. Some states will only recognize the FL permit if you are a FL resident. Just make sure you know that before you get there and rely on your FL permit as a non-resident.

if you are a former resident and you have not changed your address thats one thing. the op asked about getting a resident florida permit by supplying a florida address while not a resident
