Orlando tomorrow - Where NOT to go?

Howdy gang,
I just found out today that I have to drive to Orlando early tomorrow to bring some parts to a vendor. I'll be spending the night there, picking up the parts again Wednesday morning, then heading home. Since I haven't been to Orlando in about 5 years and have really little knowledge of the area, are there any areas/neighborhoods/pubs that I should avoid? The vendor that I am visiting is located at 7594 Chancellor Drive. Is there a decent and relatively safe motel anywhere close by? Any good Irish pubs in the area? I usually rely on people who actually live in the area for this type of advise, and I can't think of anybody I would trust more than the bunch on this forum. Thanks in advance.

Beers y'all,
Ken

That location is far from me so I'm no help. I'm never on that side of town. Maybe someone else will chime in and help you out.

Wish I could be of more help.
I would Price Line a hotel in the Sea World section. Just make sure it is 2.5 stars or more. You can shot right out Sand Lake to get to 7594 Chancellor Drive. I would eat on I drive. I know the food is basic but the area tends to be pretty safe. I go to Orlando about every 6 weeks for a few days on business. Do not stay out by the intersection of Sand Lake and OBT. That three and half miles west to I drive means the world.
The International Drive area is usually pretty safe, and there are at least a couple of Irish pubs on I-Drive that I know of...Cricketers Arms and Lucky Leprechaun Irish Pub & Grub.
Yep, but the last time I was in Orlando, one of the waiters at a restaurant told me that things are a little more expensive "on the I" because it is a big tourist area.
True the food may cost a few bucks more but it is only one meal and much safer.
And if you go north on Kirkman or south on Apopka Vineland you'll find plenty of reasonably priced places without leaving the safe areas.
Thanks, y'all. Food and water (mixed with hops and barley of course) for the one night that I am staying is on the company dime, so I'm not tooooo worried about keeping the price down. Just looking for a good and fairly safe place to down a few proper pints. Any particular hotels/motels to stay away from, either from a safety or down right "flea bag" standpoint?

Beers y'all,
Ken
Like I said 2.5 stars or better if using the Price Line method of scoring. 2 stars can be fine or a problem. Use the Sea world location if using Price Line.
Thanks, bud. Going to Price Line now.

Ken

Yep. Head west on Sand Lake Rd, past the Wal-Mart and Lowes that will be on your left at John Young Pkwy. That will get you headed toward International Drive. You can go to I Drive and just drive up and down it until you find something that looks like fun (there is EVERYTHING on I Drive). \

or, before you get to I Drive, get off of Sand Lake Rd heading onto Kirkman Rd. Head north on Kirkman Rd until you get to I Drive and there will be a little Irish Pub on the left just before you get to the stop light (you may have to bust a U-turn at the light to get to it).

Or you can head East on Sand Lake Rd and take a left on Orange Blossom Trail. *When you see the pretty ladies that are waving to you to stop and pick them up...DON'T STOP AND PICK THEM UP! ...on second thought...don't go to Orange Blossom Trail...

Cuz if they have all there teeth you will get a complementary nights stay at the local lockup. And if they dont, well you might take home a free prize that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

It's the magic kingdom ... what could possibly go wrong?
Howa, you going to be jockying an 18 wheeler up and down I-drive? Most of the people there don't drive or they drive in fun places like Italy - then come here and rent a car and drive around I-drive.....

I live plumb across town from there, but used to work in that area - and still go to Bass Pro at least once a month....

There is a hotel on Kirkman and north I-Drive - it is now a LaQuinta, but used to be something els. We put a few people up there and it wasn't bad, but that was 5 years ago....You go much further west and you end up in the Universal area and pay the premium.
