My check was cashed the first week of Nov. How can you be "in the system' and then NOT in the system.....I know this is Floriduh.....but come on now....

Keep in mind and this is what i found in my expierience calling them when i was waiting the person that answers the phone is just the switchboard operator,
she is not in the concealed weapon licensing dept in order to find anything out about your application you have to get past her ask to be transfered to this dept.

Alot of people have posted to this forum and others about the time it takes to process CWL applications in FL. From what they've said, you can generally expect it to take between 60 and 80 days from the time your check clears before you receive your license.

If your check cleared the first week in November, you probably won't see your CWL until early January. But cheer up. You're a week further into the waiting process than I am. My check cleared Nov 14th. Let me know when you get yours. I'll add a week to ten days beyond that and start checking my mailbox then. :)

Mine came today- 77 days from the day that I dropped the paperwork in the mailbox. The check cleared after about 4 weeks, so maybe things aren't as bad as reports indicate. I did use electronic fingerprints.

Really not happy now I just got off the phone with Dept of Ag. My application was received 10/19/08 (her words) I was told that I would probably get my permit in late feb or early march.....I then asked to speak to a supervisor and was told "NO" and that the governor was aware of what was going on...then she told me that if I left my phone number..."maybe" the someone would call me back later today...... This REALLY sucks!!!!!!

Yeah....it's quite all right when .gov bureaucrats violate the law...

They must really be hammered with apps. Not too long ago, folks were seeing 2-3 week turn-arounds.

Hang in there, 820Larry. You're day will come.

Count 90 days from when they received the application and then call them back. I believe they have 90 days to issue.

Its a process. I am still waiting for my check to clear. I submitted my app on 12/13. I not expecting anything till the end of this week. Hopefully :D Once they clear the check, at least I know they received my application. In the meantime, its cool that we have a forum like this. I am happy to see that other members have received theirs. This also means that DAS has more time to get mine through. Like I said, its a process. They must be swamped

In 2007, it took 90 days to get my Concealed Weapon License. With the increase in the numbers being submitted, investigated, and issued, I am sure it may still take up to 90 days to receive it.

Gun licenses soar in Fla.
By Casey Cora, Times Staff Writer
In print: Monday, September 22, 2008

The number of Floridians with permission to pack heat has jumped nearly 50 percent in three years.

In 2005, one year before the state Legislature's decision to provide anonymity to people holding concealed weapons licenses, there were 347,350 active permits statewide.

Now, that number has swelled to about 520,000.

2-3 week turn-arounds! When was that? I got mine 6 months ago and it took exactly 90 days.

It is hard to believe that it ever was as short as a 2-3 week waiting period.

Probably closer to the first quarter of last year. Friend of mine put his in around easter (end of March). Had it back about 3 weeks later (before end of April).

Sorry...when you get older, time doesn't seem to run the way it should! :D
