Non-lethal Weapons

Would anyone else like to see a discussion forum/thread/whatever you call it on here? Although I never leave the house without AT LEAST one firearm, I would be interested in learning about non-lethal weapons. I have always been interested in tasers/stun guns but know nothing about them. I know there are all different types of pepper spray, some effective some not. I would like a place where these things can be discussed. Does anyone else agree?

Thanks

Why not. Hey we can open carry non-lethal such as Taser etc. but I'm all for a discussion on Schofield units and voltages.
I'd recommend Kimber Pepper Blaster.

I carry one all the time.
Good idea.

This is the bright red plastic unit, 13 Foot max range? Very effective, and this is a great price. Has two shots. Made for Kimber the Gun people.

You can walk with this unit, in your hand!

Kimber Pepper Blaster. Found it on the web! Now lost it!

Now in Stock!
List price: $45.00
Our price: $28.99

I left my Lap Top to make tea! You beat me to it.
I am a bartender a few nights a week and although the bar my place of business/employment, something about a bar filled with 500+people and discharging a firearm doesn't sound too good to me. I'd like to know as much as possible about tasers and stun guns. Being that the prongs are so close together on a stun gun, I heard that it just feels like a very strong pinch. Not very incapacitating at all. Does anyone have stungun/taser info? Thanks.

Never been Tased, however stun gun was way more than a pinch, brought me to my knees!!
I think its a great idea.
Any kind of non leathal weapon
a stun gun is much more than a pinch...trust me...another one of my less than deadly experiments...and mine was a cheap one...

regarding the kimber pepper blaster and my own opinion...i have a real problem exposing anything that is shaped like a gun in any kind of situation whatsoever unless it is an actual gun and i can actually shoot it...we discuss different colored guns periodically and i dont want anyone thinking ive got a gun in my hand unless i actually do...

there are small canister pepper sprays that cost a quarter of the price of the kimber and have multiple sprays available in them with good range...openly carried most people wouldnt even know what you have in your hand...unlike the impression a gun shaped kimber with a finger on a trigger can give...

try to rememebr that you may not be the only armed person in a crowd and anything that can trigger an armed response from others..right or wrong... could be detrimental to your survival...

blade I think you make an excellent point.
Back to the stun gun for a second if you don't mind how many volts was it? I was thinking of buying one.(the smallest most powerful I've seen is 5,000,000 volts)
I'd like some opinions on them as an alternate SD
weapon
IMHO a stun gun is way too up close and personal, spray, a cane or expandable baton would be my prerences
I prefer the baton, but it takes training and restraint to use it solely in a non-lethal manor. If you swing away haphazardly or target specific areas of the body, it could easily become a lethal weapon. That can be both good and bad. If you produce a baton against an unarmed man, you upped the ante. If you produce a baton against a knife, it will do but there are better tools to use against deadly force.

Its best use as a non-lethal weapon is using its range and your footwork to keep distance and target the limbs that come into your striking zone. If things got close you could also use the baton as a leverage device for locks or holds.
What about wasp spray for those that can't carry any 'weapon', such as those that work on a Military base? Or a small fire extinguisher - both designed to spray out 10 to 30 feet.

I see a danger in any weapon that requires contact range of the attacker - knife, stun gun, baton, etc - as when you are that close, too many bad things can happen to you. Creating & maintaining space in a non-lethal environment is the name of the game.
In a life/death encounter you most likely will end up shot, cut, bruised, etc. Facts of life. Be mentally and if possible physically prepared for anything. Keeping distance is good but many times impossible.
