Hey everyone!
Nice to join the forum. I've lurked around for a few weeks, and I decided to join because I had a few questions, and would like to contribute the best that I can. I turn 21 next week, and have already taken (and passed) my CCW class in Orlando with East Orange. I plan on filing the day I turn 21 (a Monday). I attend school at UCF (civil engineering major), and I love to work on cars (Fords only...specifically Mustangs, in case you don't recognize the username) and scuba dive as much as possible. I work part time for a dive shop.
Why do I want to carry? I live in a big city with an above average crime rate. I'm the person who is CONSTANTLY aware of their surroundings, but I feel like sometimes I still won't be able to defend myself (or get out of harm's way), even if I see the threat coming from a mile away. I'm often forced to go to less "pleasant" parts of town, and driving a fairly nice car gets a lot of attention. I want to be able to protect myself, my friends, and my family.
So that's it! If you have any questions, please ask. My first purchase will be a Springfield XD Subcompact in either .40 or 9mm (favoring 9mm right now). My first hand gun experience was a few weeks ago, and I was lucky enough to fire a Kimber .45, Colt .44 Mag & .357, and a few other toys.
