Picked up two new Sig 226's this week.

The Sig 226 Blackwater Special Edition P226 is a full-sized 9mm featuring a stainless steel slide with rugged, wear-resistant Nitron® finish, front cocking serrations and SIGLITE® night sights. The frame is black hard anodized light weight alloy with integral Picatinny rail and is accented with the famous Blackwater logo on the top of the slide and durable SIG SAUER® factory grips and five (5) 15 Round magazines.

Sig226 "Combat" Dark Earth anodized finish on a lightweight alloy frame, non-threaded barrel, Flat Dark Earth Grips, a M1913 Picatinny rail, Short Trigger, night sights.

MPDC66,

The Sig Blackwater is a put away, it's the original gun and not the later "tactical" model with the beavertail. Got it just for investment or trading purposes down the road.

The Combat model I'll likely carry on occasion as it's got the SR trigger installed and I really like that trigger over the standard after having my 220 "carry" sent to sig for that trigger along with the nightsights.

Thanks for the heads up on the 228's from Germany. I've got two W. German 228's presently, but I know two people who want to buy them, so I can pass that info along from TopGunSupply. I've done business with him in the past, great service.

Nice !!! I have 2 Sigs as well, a solid black P229 and a P229 with custom grips. They fire very nice. I discovered how accurate I was with them when I was LEO so bought me a couple lately. I stayed with 40sw obviously. Those are sweet. What's that put your collection of guns up 2 now, 4,000 ? :rolf

Great additions Brownie! Enjoy your new Sigs.

By the way, I was enjoying Mac's and your input in the 1911 thread, as I have been wondering about a nice .45 for my collection. In the end, I think I will just use my Sig P-229 and opt for the Sig reliability with 12+1 capacity.

My friend was involved with the Virginia State Police's decision to switch to Sigs. After hearing about the selection process, it certainly gives one a high confidence level in the maker.

Of course this is not meant to imply that other manufacturers are not equally reliable. :D

I finally was able to put my hands on the Blackwater and the Blackwater Tactical today. :thumsup

I like the look of the regular Blackwater grips...but WOW is that a WIDE grip handgun. Something about the grip in my hand I didn't like at all. Then again, I realize you said its an investment opportunity...so I can understand the appeal.

I did however, REALLY like the feel of the Blackwater Tactical. I had been debating about potentially getting an M&P or an XD, but I held those today and the Blackwater actually felt the best. It might have even beat out my desire for a HK P30. I only wish the beavertail was slightly shorter, it seems really long!

I hate myself. Why is it that the firearms which feel right, that fit my hand perfectly....can't be the less expensive ones???!!! :aarg

My Sig 2340 polymer felt way too wide when I first gripped it. It has now become my favorite paper puncher. I think the wide grip, and high bore axis tends to make recoil effects one dimensional. There is a more pronounced muzzle flip, but no twisting torque that small grip, low bore axis guns have. I think Sig does this intentionally to enhance the shooters accuracy.
