I just picked up an LCP from the local gun show this weekend, and have not even had a chance to shoot the thing yet. I hope this little Elsie Pea treats me right. Can't wait to get to the range.

How do you like yours?
Have you had any problems besides the recall?
Do you have any suggestions....?

I would love to hear from some other LCP owners, and what they think of there little pistol.

I'm kind of glad you spelled it p-e-a.

Maybe your glad he spelled it like that now, but if he has the problems that mamabear had with hers, he just might polish it all up nice and pretty, take it outside(or inside on the table), and do the other spelling on it.:rolf

How much did it set you back? I've heard they are going for more than the MSRP now-a-days even with the recall issue they had.

$330 the MSRP.

It was a later S/N 370-67xxx with the recall work already completed. It has the diamond stamp

two mags, and a RUGER LCP hat. =)
Seeing how I'm one of the resident LCP holders I'll answer your question.

In spite of sending back the LHJ (little hunk 'o junk) for repairs I still like this thing and carry it everywhere legal. Mostly I carry it because I can hide it although after reading about so many shootings lately by concealed carry people I'm drooling over owning a 9mm to carry. I shouldn't covet like that so I'm working on being pleased with the LCP.

I go to a range that requires targets to be 20 feet away but even with that I can still hit the center area the majority of the time. This is with basically no training and NO sites on the gun even though I got out my fingernail polish and painted little white dots where some sites should be. I put on the old granny glasses and estimate about where the center is and fire away.

At this point I'm of the mindset that at least I'm carrying *something*. I haven't had any problems with it since getting it back from Ruger but then again I've only taken it to the range one time.

Does this help?

I've read up on some of your posts. It's to bad you had such a ruff beginning. Some members at the elsiepeaforum.com had trouble also, but the majority have had only good things to say. That being said i'll keep my fingers crossed, and see how she work on the range. (I always have my H&K USP 9mm if all else fails.)

Thanks MammaBear
I bought a new LCP, and received it on the Friday right after the recall was announced. Aaarrrggghh! I signed up for the recall, and waited. I took it to the range and put 100 rounds through it, and I had no problems with how it functioned.

I finally got the recall shipping box from Ruger and sent it back. They returned it in 5 days. I finally took it to the range again, and I put another 50 rounds through it. Again, I had no problems with how it functioned.

I just sold it this past weekend. Why? Although the gun worked fine, I was not happy with MY accuracy. I could hit the center of mass often enough, but I had enough shots that weren't where they should be, and that made me feel a little uneasy about carrying it and potentially using it in a self-defense situation. It made me wonder just how accurate (or rather inaccurate) I would be when under stress.

I have a much better level of accuracy when shooting my sub-compact or full-size Glocks. I didn't bother trying to shoot the LCP from a braced or benchrest supported position. I'm sure the accuracy issues I have could be improved with a lot of practice with the LCP. The trigger pull is relatively long, the sights are minimal (or non-exsistant with my eyes), and I'm just not that good with it yet. At some point down the road, I'm sure I will look into getting another pocket gun, but for now I decided to sell it and fund some other purchases rather than keep it and leave it locked up until I can get better with it.
