Well, it finally came in. Back in February, I bought a Bersa 380 for a back up gun. Seeing that anything in .380 is scarce, I took a chance back then. Why? I really don't know, just knew that I had to have the Duo tone model. The gun came in yesterday and I couldn't wait to pick it up. It had to come from Argentina and then to the distributor and then be shipped to the shop I ordered it from (Lou's in Hialeah). According to the paperwork I received with it, it was built/made on 4/30/2009. :dancingbanana

Now, I have to find ammo and get a holster. Can't decide if I want an IWB, OWB, or pocket holster. It is a little bit bigger than I thought for a pocket gun and since I am partial to IWB holsters, I just have to decide on what kind (holster). I've been in touch with Dave though. :thumsup

I'll also be scouring the net for ammo. Lou's had 2 boxes of Hydra shock JHP (of which I could only buy one, their rule) and 3 boxes of Lawman 95 gr ball (of which I could only buy one, again, their rule). :thumbsdwn

You mean they don't have it in stock any more? Their web site still says that they do.
I dunno...I click on that link above and it's got big red letters stating "SOLD OUT....380 sold out temporarily". I click on the link within their website for .380 and I get the same page.

No big deal, I don't need .380, but, I've got a buddy who does...we're helping each other watch for what we need. Appreciate the heads up regardless. :thumsup

Just keep checking around the local shops. Right now American Gun Range on Pembroke Road has .380 for about $33 a box. Still expensive but its Magtech FMJ. For my Walther PPK/s I love these, for target practice. For home protection I prefer Remington BJHP. Also make sure with the gun shows that you show up before they open and buy up whatever you can afford.

Yep, I was at my favorite shop yesterday and they had winchester white box for $29.95 for 50. They had only one case of it and could only sell one box per customer. :puke

At this point I have very little .380 ammo in stock, and I haven't seen any on the shelves since before Christmas.

I do not practice with it at the range. I only carry it on Sunday when I go to church. Until ammo is readily available I do not see myself even being able to shoot my little LCP any time in the near future. :thumbsdwn

On the upside, I have just about permanently stolen the Walther PPS 9mm from my husband, and I have ammo for that for now. :thumsup

$33/box!
OMG!!!!!!!!:aarg

I have 50 FMJ & 200 JHP's. That's it. Gun is loaded with 2 mags & I never shoot it. BUG I leave in my car locked up.

At these prices it makes little sense to shoot .380. It's a dead caliber.
"Dead Caliber"??? If you mean by deadly accurate then you're right! I sold off my 9-mm because it was too big to carry around comfortably. I have a 16 month old son and I have to carry him & his bags around. On top of that I have to be quick and stay active all day. .380 is not a dead caliber...it's actually quite the opposite, its in high demand. Most people for concealed carry .32 or .380 especially women. Its like this every election year and by mid summer production will catch up and it will be back to normal. And beside that, down here in South Florida, every caliber is getting expensive. Everyone is stocking up. That statement, in my opinion, holds no truth to it.

I am glad I bought a lot (12 boxes ) of 380 for my Kel Tec P3AT about two months ago. I also bought some powerball self defense ammo for it.
Good thing the Kel Tec isn't a fun "range gun....that cuts down on ammo use.
But my Kel Tec is like "American Express"...I never leave home without it! :thumsup

I use my two Glocks (19 + 26) for the range and home defense.I just bought 10 boxes of Blazer Brass for $8.97 each two days ago at Wall Mart. :pistols

I have an LCP 380 and a Bersa CC 380...I have been able to find range ammo here and there, in fact, I scored 300 rounds of the WWB 100 value packs @ Wally world a few weeks ago in Brandon for $30.00 a box. I have about a 1,000 rounds of range ammo now. I also have 4 boxes of Hornady Critical defense to use for my SD ammo. Just be patient, you will find some. :thumsup

BTW, I was at a gun show awhile back in Tampa and a guy was selling the WWB value boxes(100 rounds) for $100 a BOX......A $1.00 a round!!!!!!! A friend of mine told him that he was crazy!!! The guy replied....NO, they 7 people before you who bought some are the crazy ones LOL

In most factories, the .380 is run on the same lines as the 9mm....guess which one is going to take precedence? :D

One of the things that's happening is the manufacturers see this as a temporary thing (demand). They're not willing to expand production for a temporary issue.
