You'd have to call the base MA, bubblehead. LOTS has changed since I was stationed there. You used to be able to check your weapon in and out of the security office at the main gate...I did that for years. I understand that is no longer an option.

I know that's not much help, but it's been a while!

Good luck with your duty session, and thanks for your service.

+1 on your service

I have been searching the web for the last 30 minutes and from what I read on various sites, it appears that you can carry your firearm to the base, but it would have to be checked into the armory. I do not know from personal experience, when I was in the military I did not own a personal firearm. I would suggest you call ahead.

Thnks fellas. Can't seem to find anybody who has actually done it. Lots of folks at the reserve center think this, or heard that, but none have done it in recent years.

I seem to have trouble with the nasjax.navy.mil website. Found it on google, link didn't work.

Will call base police. Thanks.

from the above link I found this

https://www.cnic.navy.mil/Jacksonvi...assIDRequirements/NASJAXBASEENTRYREQUIREMENTS

I retract my previous post. this is what it says

WEAPONS AND AMMUNITIONAll personal or non-government owned weapons are strictly prohibited to be carried into or be possessed inside NAVAL AIR STATION JACKSONVILLE. These will be confiscated and the proper charges filed. Weapons include firearms, knives longer than 3-1/2 inches, bows and arrows; and any other object that when used, displayed, offered or brandished in any manner can inflict bodily harm or death, or instill fear in the person(s) being attacked

Not applicable, G. That's talking about just carrying a weapon on base. Bubble head wants to check his into the armory....different situation.

I definetly was not sure on this one but I found that info so decided to post. You said it does not apply because he wants to check it into the armory which is all well and good but isn't the armory inside the base?
It says weapons are strictly prohibited to be carried into or be possessed inside NAVAL AIR STATION JACKSONVILLE.

The possessed inside may fit with the not carrying a weapon while on the base (i.e. walking around the bx) but into seems to imply inside the front gate. This is just my interpretation and may I point out, I have no personal experience so it is very possible as you point out that regardless of what it says, it does not refer to checking it into the armory.

Each base has it's own policy about storing weapons, and every base has a policy similar to what you posted. I've seen a lot of weird ones.

Don't know NAS Jax's policy because I never stored weapons there. I just checked my carry weapon in and out of the front gate security office each day. Mostly, you check in at the main gate and declare the weapons. They'll either have security come meet you, and you follow them to the armory, or they'll tell you to go directly to the armory and check your weapons.....you never just drive through the gate with undeclared weapons in your vehicle....baaaaaaaadddddd idea, especially in this day and age.
