I looked through some other threads and this seems very fast. They received my app on June 27, and my money order was cashed on July 2! :D

I didn't expect it to be cashed yet after reading other threads here, but I checked just for fun this morning.

My name is Smith, so obviously their not doing this alphabetically! I'm wondering if this might mean they've hired some more people.

I realize this my have no effect on total time or outcome, but still should be encouraging for those of us waiting...

Any thoughts?

Maybe they just need the money :laughing They said they were going to hire more people so hopefully for those waiting this is a good sign. Keep everyone posted on your issue date. :thumsup

Just for perspective...

They cashed mine 3 days after I mailed it. That was 2 months ago - no further progress yet (as I expected). I assume they hired enough people to open all the mail and grab the checks, then pitch the envelopes back into a giant pile.

I envision a cavernous underground warehouse filled with brown envelopes, like the final scene from "Raiders of the Lost Ark" or something. :rolf

Mine was cashed very quickly as well. This was back in mid May. Like you, I rationalize this as the state is using the money to hire more people.

Realistically, I have at least another month to wait.

From reading other posts, if you use a money order then it is cashed within a week or two. If you using a regular check, then it's about 3 to 4 weeks before it is cashed. They must prefer money orders cause they know it's not going to bounce.

I'm glad I used a money order.

That's an interesting observation, although counter intuitive. It would seem that the longer you hold a check, the MORE likely it is to bounce! Another fine example of bureaucratic inefficiency.

I paid with a personal check 3 weeks ago, they cashed it in 7 days. So they're getting better at the cashing in part - as if they needed any improvement - now let's hope they can improve on the 'delivering' part. :popcorn

Cheers,
Hector
