Since Bob's shotgun class, I’ve wanted a shotgun with no choke. My Remington has a fixed choke that prevents me from shooting slugs.

Used the last bit of my New Years money to get the 590. I’ll take it out next weekend for function testing.

That’s what I love about my 870’s with the remchokes, they can do anything I want em to. My hunting ones run a modified, that way I can run anything from bird shot to slug’s & everything in between. When in the field, I stack my shells in priority, with slug or 000 1st, then a 7 1/2 then a 000. Usually I will have more time to rack a buck out & make a wing shot, then I will if I flush a hog at 3’ in front of me in the palmetto’s, & try to rack out a bird shot. Luv a shot gun, most versatile gun ever made.

I got a Mossberg 590A1 Persuader just before Bob's class last year and love it. I think you will like yours, too! (y) (y)

If you want to trick out your 590, check out Defender Tactical. It's where I got most of the goodies for my Shockwave, which is based on the 590. You can set it up to shoot "minishells." if you want. With their Universal Minishell Adaptor, you can even mix shell sizes in the magazine. It will feed all of them.

They also have all manner of other nifty accessories, all of which are very high quality and very reasonably priced. The Tri-Rail is nice. Also, the "Safety Sight" and "High Ball" front sight.

Nice score Andy! I prefer the Mossberg safety location over all the others.

And a cool mod is the Defender Tactical "Safety Sight." Turns the safety into a rear sight for those "precision" shotgun shots! :) Another plus for this safety is that it doesn't have the sharp serrated surface that the OEM safety has.

Yeah, but Bob won't let you shoot that in class, though.
(Ask me how I know..)

I had a Shockwave, then my brother wanted it.
So I gave it to him and eventually bought another one for me. (Nice weapon; questionable use applications?)

Later, I bought the IWI TS-12 (deadly as it gets), and now I wonder if I'll ever shoot the Shockwave, or should I just put it up for sale?

Why wouldn't he be able to shoot a Mossberg 590 in a shotgun class? (That's not a shockwave)

Not to continue the thread drift... But "questionable use???" You cannot be serious.

Andy, just to confirm, is that a "Shockwave" or just a vanilla 590? From your published pics, it looks like a shockwave.

I have two of them (I'm giving one to my nephew, though).
Just the vanilla 590. They had a shockwave but that’s not really my cup of tea. I don’t plan to do much mods on it. Just get a sling and that’s it.

Yeah. Not a Shockwave. The picture cuts off the buttstock.

Haha... no. The barrel is MUCH longer and the grip is obviously (to me anyway) a standard shoulder stock. That's a standard 590.

But you can still see that the buttstock continues beyond the grip.

In any case... enjoy in good health! From what I have seen / heard, you can't go wrong with a Mossberg.

Looks like the 590 has a longer magazine, as well. What is the capacity?

I’ll take it.
