Weird question here I know. I am obviously National Guard Military Police and I have a few questions regarding my legality of concealed carry while on duty. Just because I am a soldier does not mean I carry a government issued weapon all the time while on duty. We actually only carry a weapon on necessity.

During drill while cleaning weapons I have seen a lot of the guys break out their person CW but they were pocket guns, not like my G27. Also A LOT of the guys in my unit ARE florida certified LEO's and active LEO's as far as their day job goes. I just personally do not know who is who yet as I have only been here a few months and only see them once a month.

This weekend is suppose to be an all weekend event traveling away from home, still in FL. I will not have access to my truck and I will not be able to just leave it at home if I decide I don't want to carry. I know this is weird because this is the only job that allows anyone to carry a loaded assault rifle and an open carry 9M here in FL but we really don't ever actually do that unless we are on mission which is never. Am I legal to carry concealed? I will be on a military base but I am an active MP...any one have any ideas?

To be honest, I have never even carried a loaded weapon on mission for the NG that is how rare it actually is besides deployment. I have seen a lot of other guys with them but not sure if they are LEO with special privileges? Any input is appreciated...

it depends on the base commander. This situation came up before and it was about someone who was in the airforce I believe and they were doing their one weekend a month. The website for the base indicated that you can not have personal weapons on base. So in that case it was not allowed. I would check the website and see what the rules are.

Well, as a former MP SSGT in the FL ANG, I'll tell you that if you brought a personal weapon on my post, you'd be facing some serious charges (unless it was me that caught you).

Active LE that were doing their drill or AD time were no exception. Only exception we'd make for them was to lock them in the safe in the PM's office...no one else.

That big sign at the gate that sez 'No Weapons' is there for a reason.

Yes, the Base CO can authorize personal weapons, but in 14 years, I never saw one that did (either active duty, or the Guard).

Thanks for your service, Ford. Best of luck to you.

Thank you SGT, that pretty much confirms my decision. I will leave my weapon at home with my father to protect the 'fort'. I will miss her plenty but when I return what a wonderful reunion it will be. On a side note I am actually trying to get him to go to the gun show at the fairgrounds and take the CC class. He is so stubborn. He wants a CC permit but feels he is already qualified and the class is BS. I think I will pay for the class for him and me...and take it with him just to get him going...what a stubborn caveman

Thanks everyone.
