Went to the Miami Gun show at the fairgrounds today. Seemed like a lot of people there but because of the size of the expo center, everything was spread out pretty good. There were at least 3 large sections from Shoot Straight. Georgia Arms was there. Their ammo prices seemed reasonable. They had the zip lock type bags of 380 ammo for 22.95 for 50. I passed. Everybody else selling ammo was asking at least 5 bucks more than it sells for in Wally World. The other vendors that had 380 were selling it for 22-28 bucks. Some of the blazer brass and Federal ammo that wally world sells was going for almost double. I was able to talk Shoot straight down from $1490 to $1095 for a S&W M&P 15 (flat top with the flip up rear sight) but decided to wait awhile.

Naaaa too busy looking at all the hardware. The only reason I knew my son was with me was because he got tired halfway through the tables and wanted to eat. Took care of that at the Burger King across from the fairgrounds. Wanted to go back but it closed at 5 or was supposed to.

I don't bother any longer. Been to the last 2 in Ft Lauderdale. Waste of time. WAY over priced for everything.

It's a shame. I would expect things to be cheaper with all those vendors & people in 1 place. Nothing like FL gun shows used to be.

I did't look at the prices but I did see a lot of people looking at, buying, and walking around with Kel tecs.

I thought long and hard about a complete lower that Spike's had for $245. Passed that table at least 3 or 4 times. Don't know if that was a good price though.

I picked up 6 boxes(limit per visit) of Federal 9mm luger, $ 8.97 a box of 50, late Friday night at the Hialeah Gardens Walmart. I was at the gun show today looking for a 9mm. I also wanted to feel the weight on a Kahr P380 before I buy a LCP, which is super light.

Well depends on what you consider a deal. I did see some reloads of .45 at 100 for 35 bucks. That is not a steal but I guess not bad.

I saw some 9MM as low as 13 or 14 bucks for a box of 50. I did not look at every table, but I guess there are some decent prices, just not bargains.

I live in Broward, and the gun shops up here are expensive, so that is a better deal for me. Of course, if you factor in the admission to the show - $10, I don't know.

I have to tell you that some dealers think the people who go there are fools. I saw a few selling the Remington UMC case of 250 9MM practice rounds for 75 bucks when it was selling at Bass pro for 55. That is pretty crazy. It is obvious they bought it for 55 at Bass Pro and were trying to resell it. Funny...

Fact is, I just like going. It is enjoyable for me and my better half to hang out, talk to the dealers, and see what is being offered. Some of people recognize my face now and we hang out and talk, especially the Jerky guy who is a real cool guy.

Heck, where can you be around that many cool people and guns and have a good time for less?

Just my two cents...

I went ahead and checked out the show today that is after I picked up 6 boxes of 9mm at walmart for under $9 a box. The price of ammo at the show was def overpriced. I ended up buying a very nice handmade knife for $40 a nice smith&wesson pocket knife for $10, a don Hume iwb holster for my glock 26 $25, an XL +3 magazine extension for the baby glock and 11 12gauge shells for $2. And of course had to go through the metal detector like everybody else. Bush and palin lookalike were avail for pictures at $20 a pop.

Was it me or was Shoot Straight at least one-third of the vendors there by themselves?

Most of my friends no longer attend the Miami shows because of the poor security in the parking area. Last two shows two out of four of them had their cars keyed. To most people that can be overlooked but it is hard to overlook it when the car is a 2009 Vette Z06 and a 2008 350Z. The Vette repair was a little over $4 grand. Most went the Deland show this past weekend, was OK but not many vendors and the ones there had everything way over priced. S&W M&P 15's starting prices were a hard $1,500 to $1,600. Ruger LCP's and KelTec's prices were also a joke, both in excess of $400 plus xfer and tax. Asking prices around here start around $1,100 for the M&P 15 and I just bought a NIB LCP from a local shop for $386 out the door with two boxes of Federal Hydra Shok JHP's and a Uncle Mike's IWB holster.
I believe the gunshow vendors, IMO, are their own worst enemy and have all but destroyed their business because of their outrageous prices. Gun shows are fast becoming a thing of the past. Take notice of the ticket booth at your next visit, no lines wrapping around the building.
