I was at a local gun shop yesterday looking for a magazine for the Walther PPS and was told they are out of the one I wanted and couldn't tell me when more would come in. On my way home I went by the other gun shop and they didn't have any either. There seems to be a run on magazines as well as ammo. We checked on line and they are asking $50-60 for just one magazine. Is something going on with magazines? This shop was going to charge $30ish for it.

Anyway, while I was there I thought I'd check out some of the guns I've seen you all mention including the Taurus, and the 1911. It was $1050 but he said he would work with me on that. Uh, I'm not in the market but thanks. My goodness that gun is heavy. It felt real good in my hand but that thing is a lug. He went on to say that because of the steel frame there is not much recoil.

I'm just curious as to whether any of you guys actually carry your 1911 or is it just a range gun? I also just read an article out of a 2006 NRA magazine about 1911 guns so my curiosity got the best of me.

Guess I'll do a search today for magazines unless you all can suggest some websites that have accessories.

Thanks again.

The high prices bother me too. I want to shoot IDPA but their web site says you need 3 magazines. I only have 2 and I'm in no mood to spend $50 to get another one.

Yes I do..its 40oz empty full size 5" 1911 by Dan Wesson..They are heavy which helps with recoil but dont believe the guy that told you they have less..They push more than say a 40cal that has alot of muzzle flip..

I will have to say I have been carrying my new M&P9 the last couple of days just to get used to it (24oz empty). I bought it for a student trainer but its quite comfortable on the hip and as I told Brownie..much faster from draw to 1st shot mostly due to less weight and shorter barrel

Just purchased 2 more mags for my 1911 @ $24 ea. The M&P9 mags are $35 ea if you can find them. Mags have all taken an increase even Glock mags which are plentiful have seen a substantial increase in price from what I've seen. Most of us try to accumulate 5-10 mags for each gun as an average.

MamaBear, I carry a 1911 Colt Combat Commander in .45acp similar to this as my carry gun.

I have made some modifications to mine that are not shown in this picture.

My Combat Commander is a bit smaller than a Government Model 1911, but still provides the knockdown power I want in a Concealed Carry Handgun, because I carry it with 230 grain Hydra-Shok Jacketed Hollow Points.

As far as magazines go yes, with the "Marxist in Chief's" election, the prices on magazines have gone sky high through supply and demand.

With more and more people buying firearms the demand for magazines and ammo are going to continue to increase to the point where prices are going to become prohibitive to the average consumer.

The only advice I have is to buy when you can, what you can, because prices are not going to be coming down soon.

Gross. Not attractive. I wonder if his character is as strong as his body? Not going to bet any money on that one.

Actually, Pete Koch is a pretty interesting individual. When that movie was made (Heartbreak Ridge), he was playing in the NFL as a defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Played 6 years. Now he owns a sports fitness business amongst other interests.

Here he is today:
