Can anyone recommend a 2A friendly Lawyer in the Panhandle (specifically Pensacola)? Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have not needed to so much as look at my Concealed Weapon outside of the range or routine cleaning, BUT I want to prepare "just in case". I have contacted Jon Gutmacher, but it is too far away from Orlando for him to drive. I do plan on keeping his info and giving it to the Lawyer I choose to retain the services of. I am looking through various lists of lawyers, but most Civil Rights lawyers seem to be against 2A. Go Figure!

I picked up the business card of a 2A attorney at the gun store where I did my concealed carry class. If no one here knows one then check your local range.

Im surprised to hear that "most civil rights attorneys" are anti 2a in your experience.

Granted I am not an attorney yet, but I am in my final year of law school and nearly all of my fellow students that I talk to on the subject are staunchly pro-2a.

Unfortunately, I don't have anyone to refer you to, but I will definitely keep my ears open!

I would be careful about going on the web looking for lawyer prior to being charged with anything. It might appear that you have the intention of shooting someone under questionable circumstances.

To avoid legal entanglement obey the law. Even if the law does not require it, retreat if there is any possible way to do so before shooting in selfdefense. Do not carry where there a possible legal prohibition on doing so.

Most defense lawyers won't establish a relationship prior to you having a problem. They get locked in as your attorney and they have no idea what you may step in.

What may work is if you can find a good "family practice" attorney who would be willing to give you some contact information for after hours and be willing to contact a specialist if needed.

Once again, check out ASDI (American Self Defense Institute). It costs $49.95 per year, but for that you get:
  • An annual membership.
  • A monthly newsletter packed with top techniques and recommendations from experts around the states.
  • Confidence knowing ASDI is there for you, 24/7 should you find yourself in a self defense incident.
  • ASDI will provide an attorney for the first 72 hours after a self defense incident.

You might end up needing a local lawyer, but be prepared from the beginning.

Hmm...don't get the top of this statement. I have a buddy of mine that services atm machines for a company and he has a lawyer on retainer because of all the times he almost got shot by police and stuff like that. Being that he is a black guy has cause alot of issues. He always tells me that he is not worried about the Bad guys out there....he is worried about the police. Anyways, he has a retainer just in case he is falsely arrested or something like that. I disagree, there is alot of people that have lawyers on a retainer just in case of ANYTHING.....actually it is a great idea.
