In the past few weeks I have noticed a SURGE of new members joining us here at our little piece of Heaven, Florida Concealed Carry.

I think it is fantastic!! :thumsup

With more new members signing up, I think we can see that we are NOT a minority of the American population.

The reports indicated there was a HUGE increase of firearm purchases AFTER the election of the " Marxist-in-the-Whitehouse ". The number of purchases indicate that the majority of the American people BELIEVE in the Second Amendment. In my opinion, the number of more and more NEW members joining us here just proves that to be true.

We need to harness the political power of all who sign up here, to FLOOD our Senators and our Congressman's email address, snail mail address, and their switchboards EVERYTIME legislation affecting our Second Amendment Rights come up for a vote.

We have to play the same game the Liberal Progressives play, we need to orgainze our numbers, and show our politicians that We are the People and THEY work for US.

This board is a great success, and my congratulations go to Administrator NkmG19, and all of the Moderators here who help make it so.

It's encouraging to see so many new people showing up here. Though it has a down side - now I feel like an old timer. :D

Moderators MamaBear, FLRon, Capngeo and Orlando Driver all help me work behind the scenes to run this place as efficiently as possible.

If you believe in the Second Amendment your voices will be needed to use all legal means at your disposal to stop any politician who would try to deny this right.

Thanks :thumsup

Am I correct in the fact that this forum isn't that old? I swear I saw it somewhere on here that it's not much more than a year or so old..am I anywhere near right?

If so...the membership and traffic this group gets is nothing short of incredible!

I think it speaks highly of this one!

Quite frankly, the one single difference I see here vs. other places is a true, honest desire by most to learn, teach, and discuss important issues without a lot of the normal bickering and snobbery that is common elsewhere. Newbie questions are answered with a confident professionalism among peers that is rare. Even when that question get's asked 100 times a month. :laughing

And while we may not always agree, differences are usually voiced, debated, then put to rest a good deal more "politely" than you see some other places.

Trust me, as someone who is still somewhat of a rookie around here....those of us who are truly seeking knowlage regarding this subject do notice!:thumsup

I believe the forum has been around since May 15, 2008. At least that is Nkm's join date. I'm assuming that since he is the Adm. that is when the forum started. That would make us just over a year old.

I joined July 8, 08, just two months after the site started. I stumbled upon it while researching concealed carry in Florida. My dh was standing next to me when I found it, and I can remember thinking I would never find a posting name. I quickly thought of MamaBearto2 hoping that it hadn't been taken already. It never occurred to me that the site was only two months old and that I was one of the first female posters. I just assumed this site was huge and I was hoping to get a few questions answered.

As it turns out the site was not huge, but I got my questions answered and then some. I stayed because everyone has been respectful and genuine in their answers. Not one time have I been made to feel stupid because of my obvious questions. Not one time has someone answered in exasperation.

It is easy to want to stay here because of the mutual respect that everyone has for guns. Personalities will always be varied on a public forum but it seems that everyone pays attention to the "Be Nice" sign posted at the front door.

Now if only we can find a way to get all of those posters with -0- by their names to post. On the member list I see a lot of -0- members. I've often wondered about that.

This is a very nice site, and somewhat unique. It seems to be composed of people who are genuinely trying to increase their knowledge concerning firearms and efficient defensive weapons use, rather than the urban cowboy who just returned "Shoot Em Up" to the video store and now knows how to defend himself. It has a lot of people who are new to the world of defensive weapons use who are more focused on the defensive aspect rather than the offensive aspect of firearms use. That is refreshing. And it has a number of people [instructors, law enforcement, military, and legal] who are more than willing to share their training and experience with the rest of us.

My six months here have been a pleasant and rewarding experience and I thank you all.

It's great to see all the new members, particularly the ones that are not trying to sell us Viagra and other prescription meds. :D
Though some of us are getting so old that we may need those. :rolf

I gotta say, you guys do one heck of a job keeping those things out of here! :thumsup

I help mod a much smaller off-road based one that runs a similar vbulletin setup and it's a constant battle chasing those guys and bots around!

Just the other night we had one literally flood the entire board and would "watch" for new posts so it could post right after them, making their spam posts always on "top". :aarg:ak

As I say, it has no where near the traffic as this one, so, the darn thing can go a few hours before any of us catch it. :smack

With a group this size, I can only imagine the "spammer" traffic you get.

Good job!

I have had the distinct pleasure and honor to meet, train with or talk on the phone with many members on here and a couple of moderators..This place is like no other I have been involved with on the internet..that's why I call this forum HOME..Fortunately I'll get to meet, greet and train with a bunch more of you in about 10 days..Somehow we have morphed ourselves into a uniquely different down home type forum which is unheard of these days of keyboard commando's..Hats off to Norm and all the Admins that make all of us feel so welcome here..and a big Kudo's to all the members here for being such great neighbors in our little cyberhood... (cyberhood..I like that, is that a new word).
