Loading mags with either hand

Slightly strange since holding mag(s) in the weak hand and loaded with the strong side hand is the most familiar. With Maglula is easy with either hand.

I'm with ya on the maglula that is a thumb saving and hand saving device !

I’ve never even thought about trying to load a mag weak-handed. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Lot of talk about weak side shooting and such. Maybe wants to try new stuff. I applaude his wanting to try new stuff. although his energy level listening to him sometimes makes me tired. Rough getting old .

And it's not like one will likely be loading mags in a defensive scenario because of a disabled strong hand! However, I can imagine that if one had suffered an injury of the hand they normally load mags with and had to use their other hand to load mags for a weak-hand training session at the range, it might be useful to have tested one's dexterity in that situation before it's actually necessary.

I ran some new SD ammo thru my gun yesterday. No idea what made me think of it but I did and tried it. Felt a tad weird. As more rounds went in and it got harder to do it became a bit more difficult to do in my not normal manner.
I shot with both hands. Double and triple taps are still faster with my ‘weak’ hand. I’m naturally left handed but have carried on the right basically forever.

I hold magazine in my weak hand (left) load magazine with dominant right hand.
And use wife's underwear to keep finger prints oil off brass.

These are my thoughts ^^^^…. I won’t be loading mags in a gunfire as I don’t carry spare (loose) ammo on my person. Spare mags are already loaded.

I don’t think any of us would be loading in the middle of anything.
Was just a passing curiosity and thought

i try everything...everything with my weak hand...i encourage my students to do the same...whether it's pumping gas...working a calculator...or buttoning your clothes (wtf were you thinking?)...the more you work muscles youre not used to working the easier and more natural it gets...

When out and about (shopping, eating, whatever) I seem to do everything left handed. I’m pretty sure that, many years ago, I wanted to keep my “gun hand” free when out as much as possible, and made a conscious decision to do so. But I’ve been doing it for so long without thinking about it that it’s funny when I do notice it.

I write and throw with my left hand. But I started carrying more than 30yrs ago and back then there was basically zero left hand oriented guns and even less left handed holsters. So over time carrying and shooting right handed just became ‘natural’ to me. Trigger finger is still a bit quicker in my left hand and rifles still feel more ‘natural’ left handed. But really guns either way either side feel the same to me now.
But I usually hold mags with right hand and rounds in left because for some reason fingers are my left hand are better at stuffing ammo in them. Feels a tad weird loading ammo with fingers on right hand?

An old Sgt. of mine made it a point to tell me always leave the gun hand free, back around 91 when I was 40. It's been 30+ years now I've mostly followed that advice.

If I'm needing to carry anything that I don't want to drop in a hurry, I generally use a shopping cart. Long gone are my days of tossing fifty pounds of birdseed across my shoulder and heading across the parking lot to my car.
