I just moved to St John's county from Northern NJ, or as I called it the socialist people's republic of New Jermany. One can't get a carry permit there and handguns are strictly illegal except by specific exemptions :( Got my carry permit here in FL within two weeks of moving here - have been here three weeks now. I love shooting USPSA and IDPA matches and am an RO and SO.

Thank you!!!
A lot of folks moving here from up north bring their miserable, expensive, liberal mindsets with them.
Thank you for helping pull down the average.

It is probably a losing battle, though. (I hope not.)

This!

Welcome from Palm Beach County, Kirbinster! :wave

I grew up in Florida but worked in the DPRofMD for 30 years and returned home to America almost two years ago. :dancingbanana

Glad you successfully left that POS DPRofNJ, both the place and their nanny-state mindset. Carry in good health, sir! :thumsup

Welcome aboard from Cape Coral. Since no one else has mentioned it may I suggest the book 'Florida Firearms Law' by Jon Gutmacher. Considered to be the best breakdown of all the in's and out's of firearms law here in Florida. Written in plain English for us non-lawyer types to understand.

Kirbinster,
Welcome to Florida but you really need to know how unsafe it is here compared to New Jersey,
People have guns here and in New Jersey where there is NO GUNS There is NO CRIME.
Camden, Newark, The Oranges & Atlantic City are all much safer to walk down a street at midnight then most city's in Florida.
I have an Aunt that lives in Cherry Hill and She will not leave her house if it is dark out. She used to work in Camden and carried a gun in the old days and actually had to use it a few times. She has a permit and still has one but she is over 80 now and she say's her eyesight and reflexes are not what they used to be.
I hope you are not going to be afraid living here in Florida with all of the guns people have.
I have heard that some of the citizens in Florida actually have the AR-15 which was said to be capable of FULL SEMI AUTOMATIC MODE and when shooting 223 the bullets explode and destroy what it hits.
This came from a retired General and he should know all about guns.
Anyway, Welcome to Florida.

That was funny Ronnie :) I always tell my wife just like good fences make good neighbors, guns keep people friendly. I noticed in the development we are living when we are out walking our dogs everybody waves and says hello. Even the people that handle motor vehicle registration are friendly, unlike those in the socialist peoples republic of New Jermany. About the only thing I don't like here are the drivers, they are worse than horrible.

One of the 1st things I noticed after leaving SPRoNJ and moving to sunny FL. Someone holding a door for me going in a convenience store, I took half a step back thinking I was going to get pick pocketed or jacked.

The driving/drivers problem, the only thing I can think of is people learn to drive where they live.
Then move to or just visit Fl. A melting pot of different driving styles that don't mesh well.

Welcome to Fl.

Just do not give anyone the one finger salute if they cut you off. Some of the Florida drivers are just plain mean and will want to ROAD RAGE YOU.
A lot of Florida driver have never used a turn signal
A lot of the older ones only use the LEFT LANE no matter how slow they go.
Some think turning right on a red light means they do not have to look and see if anything is coming so they just pull out.
Driving in Florida is just plain EXCITING.
