I was just watching the newest Locked and Loaded with R. Lee Ermey and it was on the history of the pistol. Some really good info and ballistics tests. At the end he said the pistol above all the rest was the Glock 18. 9mm, 33 shots in 2 seconds... machine gun. Very cool. Could be shot as single shot or automatic. Anybody catch this episode?

I learned that it was available only to LEO and limited amount of other people...forgot who else they said.

I do know that the girl sure can reload rather quickly. I've also noticed that it appears that all these experts seem to be young and single and have the time to do all these great and wonderful things.

Sigh. In my dreams. Apparently, I've started my new hobby too late in life to get in that kind of experience and training.

That's ok, I wouldn't trade where I am in life for anything. I would just like to shoot better.

I watched it. The G18 has been around for well over 20 years. There's very few available to regular citizens (manufactured before 1986). Last one I heard about sold for over $20K, and that was about 6 years ago.

Believe it or not, I was watching R. Lee this afternoon but had to make a quick run to the store and MISSED this episode. I would have loved to have seen this. I had an opportunity back in 1992 to shoot a G18 in full auto mode. This thing had a hell of a jolt and immediately rose high and to the left. Almost uncontrollable in FA mode. I've fired Uzi's and MP5's one handed that were easier to control. If some babe on this show was shooting FA with a G18 and had it under control, the Glock HAD to have been ported AND sub-factory loaded ammo was used. I am almost immune to recoil, but that rascal gets uncontrollable after about the 5th round.

I believe the Glock 18 was originally made for the Belgian Government. You can't get the recoil or the bang of the real thing ,but you can buy an airsoft Glock 18 that has the same selector switch for semi and auto.

Any FA handgun is too light and will have a higher muzzle rise than something like the MP5, though the Uzi is lightweight but it doesn't rise as bad. But like any other FA weapon, it's design is more for suppression than accuracy ... just look at the Machine Gunner's motto Accuracy by Volume! The G18 with this added stock might stabilize it better:

BTW, I love R. Lee in anything he does. My wife calls him Uncle Ermey because he's just like the rest of mine and her family.

Twas a great episode. But like the young lady from team Glock pointed out her G18 was ported and the helped keep a godd portion of the muzzle climb down.

Austrian Govt if I remember correctly. It stemmed during a govt competition to design and provide the next military issue handgun. It was the 17th patent the Glock company had received hence the name. Of course it won the competition and next they were asked for a full auto version I believe for their special forces. (G18) My history is a little vague, lol.

The G18 is used by a few LE agenices, one of them being the Utah Hwy Patrol

I saw this episode, very neat stuff.. being that R Lee is a pd spokesman for Glock, you know you were not going to see any HK,SIGS etc..

I saw a G18 in action one time at my local gun range.. the dumb a$$ shooting it, shot his finger off.. its on Youtube.. :thumbsdwn

I was next in line to have a session w/it but after the incident, the guy took his toy and went home..
