One way to spot a fake is the cyclops on the crystal. Look at mine.... it only magnified the date by 1.5X. A real Rolex will magnify by 3X (or something close to that).

I had that same watch in high school (40 years ago). :)
Except I don't think it was solar, but it looked very, very similar.
Yes... the 5610 is a modern update on the famous 5600 "square" Casio. It's very popular among enthusiasts. It's very light on the wrist (almost don't feel it). It is full-featured with all the usual chronograph functions (stopwatch, timer, etc) along with solar, atomic, and world time.

The 5600 is also still made and sold.

Funny you say that. when I was a senior in high school (1980), my mom and stepfather were living in Iraq. They often shopped in neighboring Kuwait (nicer stores). That year, for Christmas, they bought my brother and me the latest Seiko digital watch that had a calculator built in! This was CUTTING EDGE SH*T at the time! Those watches were $300... in 1980 dollars. Expensive. This is the watch:

I think the esthetics still hold up today. In fact, I think it looks better than today's calculator watches.

My brother and I returned to school (in small-town Arkansas) after the Christmas break, thinking we were the "sh*t!" LOL! And, the watches DID get a lot of attention, since nobody had ever seen anything like them.

I went to look for mine just the other night and couldn't find it. I swear I still have it somewhere! I gotta find it. NIB examples sell for $800+ today. Trashed examples sell for $200+.

OK... a bit more "watch porn." Today's arrival. I swear I'm quitting! I can quit any time I want! Really! What's this "intervention" crap? 🤭 ;) This is a "G-Steel" watch from Japan. "Japanese Domestic Product," which means it's intended for the Japanese consumer market. This is the same model line as my first Casio watch posted at the beginning of this thread.

The Japanese domestic products are often slightly different than the U.S. products.... different colors, different LCD (positive instead of negative)... different features: the Japanese watch has the atomic clock sync, whereas my U.S. G-Steel does not.

For Caleb:

Light shot.

Lume shot!

The blue steel is glossy on the sides.... adds a touch of elegance to the "sporty" watch. The matching blue hands and hour markers look great.

Nice, racer! (y) Pretty sure I have a very similar watch as the one you show in post #177 but just the U.S. version in all black. Haven't worn it for a year but IIRC, it does have the time sync and the LEDs can switch between normal and negative modes, but I could be mistaken about that last part. 🤠

If it is made for Japan, do you know why it is in English?
Seems to be the standard. Maybe like how the international airline comms are all English.

But, the instruction manual that came with it is in Japanese.

So, I had to download the English version.
