So last nite i went to go pick up my girl from her friends house and we were gonna go to hard rock. i get to her friends house and her friend is hammered. well she had mentioned she had lots of guns and i said hey can i see?!?!? well i knew she was drunk but man i didnt think she was this drunk, she also said it wasnt loaded. i follow her into her room and she reaches into her dresser and pulls out a sig 9 and she starts waving the thing around while cocking bullets out, i move behind her cause i got a bad feeling and then the dumb : censored shot her own ****ing finger right in front of me!!! i look at her hand and see a big chunk missing from her finger and i immediately yell HOLY : censored she asks me what? i said YOU JUST SHOT YOUR ****ING FINGER!!!!!!!!!!! she didnt even know she did it!

and the group in the kitchen were still talking after it all went down like nothing happened untill they realized what the hell they just heard lol. she was actually more worried about the carpet then herself. she refused to go to the hospital and still hasnt. she shot her own finger at point blank range with a hollow point, you could see black on her finger from the gun powder. it looks like she skimmed half her finger. if she was just an 8th of an inch over more her finger would have been blown off! talked to her this morning she sais it still doesnt hurt. not sure if she can get in trouble if she goes to the hospital but holy : censored i have never seen : censored this crazy in my life!!!!

Alcohol & Firearms are NOT compatible!!

If somone is under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs of abuse under NO circumstance should you ask them to see their firearm.

Please use this as a lesson learned and do not repeat it, because in the future the outcome may turn out a lot worse than it did.

You asked a person who was obviously drunk to go retrieve a gun and show you?

There's more than a lesson going on here. You need to rethink your own actions in asking a person drinking to handle firearms.

How long you been around deadly weapons?

Hey Bro', sounds like you need to reevaluate your friends....:aarg
He needs to rethink his actions and allowing her to handle a gun around him while she's impaired :thumbsdwn

Both of them used impaired judgement, and that's a lack of logic and common sense being shown here.

well she said that she never keeps it loaded so i didnt think nothing of it. evidently i was lied to!
All guns are preseumed loaded until you personally inspect the firearm yourself.

A preumably unloaded firearm has killed as many people inadvertently as ones that were known to be loaded. When the "cool" factor gets in the way of common sense which was not exhibited here, it's not a matter of if it will happen, but when.

Please do not take the comments as a slam. We are trying to inform you of a mistake you made, in the hope that you don't make the same mistake again and possibly lose your life.

RickyNo..I have a friend that has a very nice 9mm that I'd love to see. The guy doesn't drink or anything but I still have never asked him to get it out and show me because I know he is a flake and could easily release the mag but leave one in the pipe, etc. I just never wanted to chance he would have an ND in my proximity. And his only crime is he's flaky and uneducated about firearms..certainly not drunk. I'm sorry to say this, but you are just as much at fault for asking to see the firearm as she was for being drunk and obliging you. If not for your actions, she'd probably still have that part of her finger. You showed very poor judgment in this sad situation. :thumbsdwn

A severe reprimand is in order, but I'm not in the position to issue it. We don't need to fan the flames of the anti-gun crowd by being a statistic of an act of stupidity. ALL guns are VERY LOADED even when they are not. I sincerely hope a lesson was learned here, by both parties. By the way, where did the projectile end it's trip?

Thank you for sharing that story. Obviously, you risk a little, hopefully friendly, ribbing here, but, I think it's important that we keep in mind that it's these kind of lessons that can be learned by all. That's why we're all here in the end, is to learn more and/or relay our own knowlage, skills, and experiences so that others may learn, right?

I'm glad things didn't go worse for anyone involved. Certainly, I'm sure the thought of "what could have been" keeps you thinking.

Perhaps it was a mistake to ask someone obviously intoxicated to even go near their weapons, I'm sure it's a mistake that we can all learn from. We all have friends we know and even trust. However, we need to keep in mind that it's our own safety that's always paramount. Trust has nothing to do with it. Making sure we, and those who are around us, go home safely and thinking things through to that end at all times...... That's the lesson here IMHO... :thumsup

I own firearms and have no problem having a few. When I do the firearms stay locked up. Firearms and alcohol or drugs are like gasoline and a match you are asking to harm or kill yourself or someone else. Firearms must always be treated like they are loaded even when they are not. Good firearm safety requires sound judgment something you lose as you get buzzed.

I would never take anyone's word for it that a gun was not loaded. That could have cost you your life.

Serious lesson learned as long as you keep reflecting upon what *could* have happened and what you would do differently the next time. Count your blessings you have a next time.

That chick has some serious issues. I would never go there again.

While she said the gun wasn't loaded you still made a tactical mistake asking to see the gun. Drunks should never mess around with guns even if they are not loaded.

Also never take someones word for it. Always check yourself.

I know you didn't get a chance to check in this case and we are not trying to but your chops on this - we just want you to be safe and not end up in this situation again.

That is really bad! I don't want anyone around me to be handling a weapon unless they are military or LEO plain and simple. Everyone else in my opinion is an untrained nuisance with very little exception. If someone does not have a job where they get paid real money to handle a gun, I sure as hell don't want to see them with one in their hands anywhere near me...

That is really scary...Glad your okay.
