I have an ammo can (plastic made for paintball) that I use to store my ammo in.

However, with 1000 rounds in in boxes it its getting full. So I am wondering. Do most of you store the ammo still in the white box or do you dump the ammo in and store the rounds loose?

Any pros or cons for doing it loose?

Paladin,

I store bulk ammo both ways, in their boxes in cases and loosly dumped into ammo cans. I don't think it matters from years of storing it both ways. One of my bunkers gets pretty damned hot out here in the summer, and I've not seen any degradation storing it either way.

In Fla, I might want to keep it in containers that are humidity proof which I don't concern myself with out here in the Southwest.

Half of my ammo gets stored in mags. Which are stored in mag pouches. I have 20 or so AK & AR mags & at least 10 each for all handguns.

The ammo I have in boxes are stored in big 30mm ammo cans I got off Ebay. I have 3 of those.

Yep, if you don't you'll end up with Green bullets
Furthermore, what's the point in carrying a gun that will go boom everytime no matter what if the ammo you're loading in it has been affected/compromised by moisture...

I used to store all my loaded ammo and used brass in individual 50 count boxes. Lately I've taken to throwing all the loose brass in one big box and all my reloads in another big box. The reloads don't go into small ammo boxes until I need them for a trip to the range.
